MN: Probable Milan XI to face Cagliari – no Bennacer as Pioli opts for continuity

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is not expected to make any changes for the starting XI to face Cagliari compared to Monday’s win over Sampdoria.

According to the latest from MilanNews, Pioli will field Mike Maignan in goal, protected by a back four formed of Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez from right to left, which is now the tried and tested formula.

In the middle of the field it should be the double pivot of Sandro Tonali and Rade Krunic that get the nod again, with Ismael Bennacer clearly not in the best shape after recovering from Covid recently.

Looking at the attacking options, it should be Alexis Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao in support of the centre-forward Olivier Giroud, who is looking for his first competitive goal as a Rossoneri player.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Hernandez; Krunic, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.

  1. again. a silly choice from Pioli to not include bennacer as first starting. he does anything to involve Krunic the squad, gives him trust and so on but he weirdly not does that to Hauge. I hate this coach. This team has performed because of Ibra not Pioli
