MN: Probable Milan XI to face Liverpool – Tonali to keep his spot; one position in question

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is set to make only necessary changes to the starting XI for tomorrow’s game against Liverpool, it is claimed.

MilanNews reports that the Achilles tendon problem that hit Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the end of this morning’s training session means that Pioli has had to make some tweaks to the XI that he was going to field against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

There will be changes compared to the team that beat Lazio on Sunday, for example in the centre of defence where Simon Kjaer will play alongside Fikayo Tomori in place of Alessio Romagnoli. In the trio of attacking midfielders, Alexis Saelemaekers will be slot back in for Alessandro Florenzi.

The only other doubts were the midfield, but the report insists that Sandro Tonali will be partnering Franck Kessie in the double pivot despite missing today’s training with intestinal problems, while for the role of centre-forward it remains a battle between Giroud and Rebic.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao; Giroud (Rebic).
