MN: Probable Milan XI to face Sparta Praha – chances for a number of fringe players

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli will take the opportunity to heavily rotate his starting XI for Thursday’s game against Sparta Praha, with qualification for the knockout stages already in the bag.

As MilanNews reports, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Alessio Romagnoli and Hakan Calhanoglu remained at home, as did the still-injured duo of Ismael Bennacer and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Davide Calabria, Theo Hernandez, Franck Kessie and Ante Rebic will be there, but they will all start from the bench.

Ciprian Tatarusanu will start in goal after he played against Sparta at San Siro. Andrea Conti will get his first start of the season at right-back, while Leo Duarte will be paired with Matteo Gabbia. at centre-back. Diogo Dalot will be deployed as a left-back, just as he was against Sparta.

Despite Leao’s call-up and Rebic’s desire to get his first goal, Pioli will opt for Lorenzo Colombo ip front. He will be supported by the trio of Samu Castillejo on the right wing, Brahim Diaz as the playmaker and Jens Petter Hauge on the left. Daniel Maldini cannot be excluded from a start in place of Brahim or Hauge, however.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Tatarusanu; Conti, Duarte, Gabbia, Dalot; Tonali, Krunic; Castillejo, Brahim Diaz, Hauge; Colombo.
