MN: Rebic must overcome his first-half curse as Milan call him into action

By Isak Möller -

Although Zlatan Ibrahimovic is back in training, it seems AC Milan will have to rely on Ante Rebic up front against Lazio this Sunday. After a rather slow, the Croatian could use the boost a goal would get him.

Olivier Giroud recently tested positive for Covid-19 and is thus out for the game on Sunday, but he should be back for the Liverpool clash. The new arrival Pietro Pellegri, meanwhile, isn’t quite ready fitness-wise.

As mentioned, Ibrahimovic is back in training but Stefano Pioli doesn’t want to risk him straight away, which is why Rebic is ahead. In recent years, the No.12 has made the headlines for his slow starts, often shining in the second half of the season.

Well, this time out, he will need to show that he’s ready straight away as the Rossoneri sure do need him, as highlighted by MilanNews. In the span of 21 days, starting with the Lazio clash, Milan will play seven games and depth will certainly be needed.

Rebic remained at Milanello during the international break and should, therefore, in theory be very ready for the game on Sunday. Hopefully, we will see that on the pitch as well.

      1. Leao should stay at LW, he’s been showing much more promise there. As a Striker he’s bad so definitely just rotate Pellegri with Rebic at striker this game imo

    1. IMHO, Pellegri is too much of an unknown at this point and we dont even know his fitness level. Rebic is a much secure option, afterall this is a huge game vs Lazio and not some early rounds of Copa Italia.
