MN: Rebic takes a step towards recovery as Pioli looks forward to double return

By Oliver Fisher -

It was an ideal start to the season for Ante Rebic as he scored a brace in AC Milan’s win over Udinese to begin the Scudetto defence, but since then it has been far from ideal.

MilanNews report how Rebic has been out for a month for a herniated disc problem which has ruled him out of some crucial games already, but now the Croatian is approaching a return to the field, even if there is still no certainty as to when he will actually be back.

The forward did part of the training today with his team-mates before then continuing his individual work. He will be a precious resource for Stefano Pioli given that rom now to the break for the World Cup, Milan will play 12 games in 43 days.

Up until this point Olivier Giroud has been superb, but he will be 36 tomorrow and therefore it is unthinkable that he can start a game every three days, so Rebic is vital to give the Frenchman plus Rafael Leao some rest.

Of course the medical staff to be very cautious as his problem is not easy to dispose of, while also waiting for the return of Divock Origi who is still working separately, and the hope is that at least one of the two will be able to return for the game against Chelsea.
