MN: ‘Reduced distance’ – Milan in ‘continuous contact’ with Spurs over Emerson deal

By Ben Dixon -

AC Milan have re-lit the spark as they attempt to sign Emerson Royal this summer, and a report has suggested that they are slowly closing the gap between themselves and Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been a difficult summer for Milan so far, and the fans have voiced their concern about the lack of movement being made by the Rossoneri, but things could speed up over the next few weeks as the season approaches.

Whilst two players have arrived through the door, there is a demand that more arrive with several areas to be improved before the season starts, and the Diavolo are aiming to do that, as a report this morning suggested.

One of the players in question was Emerson Royal, who Milan have held an interest in for most of the summer. However, the pursuit of the right-back was placed on hold after negotiations broke down last month.

Nevertheless, talks have re-opened, and the Rossoneri are gradually closing on Tottenham’s asking price. According to reports from Milan News, talks have ‘intensified’ after Alessandro Florenzi’s injury, and the contacts are ‘continuous’.

It is believed the operation will cost in the region of €15-17 million, and with a ‘reduced’ distance to close, the deal is very close.

  1. Another EPL benchwarmer. He isn’t an upgrade on Calabria. Should buy Kayode or even Bellanova. The latter was available with just 7 million a year ago and no big club buy him as he is an Italian. If Emerson is an Italian, Milan would not be interested or he would only cost 5-6 million.

    1. Sorry to burst your bubble but no italian right back in the world is better than Royal. Its sad but true, italian football is in a bad period.

      1. Wow. What a bold and untrue statement.. there are 6 Italian rb players that are better than him, starting with our own Calabria and ofc Florenzi

          1. I am funny but it’s you who’s making jokes today..

-but no italian right back in the world is better than Royal-

What a comedic piece of writing.. I should have you shadow write my stuff

        1. Florenzi with an ACL better than Royal… LMAO!!!

Poor Brazilian gets no love here. If we keep our expectations low, he won’t be able to disappoint us 😉

          1. Dude? Obviously I was thinking about a healthy florenzi…

Then again what you wrote isn’t far from truth actually.

I’m all for Brazilians, just get me quality ones

      2. Simply not true.
Check their statistics their season, there isn’t a single parameters where Royal is equal to Calabria, let alone better than him or any other Italian right back.
This is simply a poor’s man Calabria

      3. lol, come on, no Italian better than Merson, you haven’t seen him played for more than a few matches in the last 1-2 years. How do you even know he is better?

  2. I’m Brazilian, and I also don’t like the idea of signing a royal player. However, what Patrik said is true; there aren’t good Italian players, especially in that position. I believe the ideal name for that position at Milan would be Geertruida.
