MN: Rennes battered with severe storms – forecast suggests things will worsen

By Oliver Fisher -

Rather than being the calm before the storm, AC Milan are hoping that it is more a case of the storm before the calm in Rennes this afternoon ahead of tonight’s game.

As a reminder, the second leg of the Europa League play-off round tie between Stade Rennais and Milan kicks off in the earlier slot of 18:45 CET with the Rossoneri having a three-goal lead from the first leg at San Siro.

As MilanNews reports, at the moment the weather conditions in the French city are turbulent, to put it mildly. In addition to the very heavy rain there are continuous windstorms and, according to forecasts, they will be increasingly stronger during the afternoon.

The Curva Sud Milano corteo is scheduled for later, with departure expected to take place at 16:30 CET towards Roazhon Park. Around 2,000 Milan fans are expected this evening at the game, with the hope of pushing the team into the last 16.

Obviously the advancement in technology related to pitches such as the drainage means that at present the game is not at risk of being postponed, pushed back or anything along those lines, but the conditions would certainly make the game a lot harder for the players.
