MN: Roma enquire about Daniel Maldini while Monza plan negotiations – the situation

Monza’s desire to keep hold of Daniel Maldini has been confirmed but they will need to negotiate on the price with AC Milan, according to a report.

Maldini was first loaned to Empoli for the first half of the season but he found himself down the pecking order so the decision was then taken to send him to Monza, where he has played more and has scored four goals.

Their director Adriano Galliani is believe to be keen on a permanent deal, while there are doubts about the role that he would have with the Rossoneri next season if he were to return and stay. Thus, the next few weeks will be crucial in deciding his fate.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, Monza would like to keep Daniel Maldini but there is no option to buy or obligation to buy as part of his loan deal with them, which means they cannot instantly make him a permanent signing.

Milan will set the player’s price and will enter into negotiations with the teams that have requested information. In addition to Monza, Roma also made some inquiries about Maldini, who had a much better second half of the season.

  1. Maldini, who would’ve cost us ZERO, scored 4 goals in 11 Serie A appearances.

Chukwueze, who actually cost us 20-something-million, scored 1 goal in 24 Serie A appearances.

    Big. Slow. Hand. Clap.

      1. Well Daniel helped Monza on quite a few occasions to score some serious points. Chuk also helped us in the UCL. They both did ok but Chuk was supposed to do more given his age and experience. The point MH was making was the cost. I also didn’t think 20m for a backup winger is warranted

      2. Ofc he does think that..dude doesn’t even realise they are a completely different profile of players who play different positions. Basic whining heir

      3. I mean how would we ever even know!

Clearly goals to appearances don’t seem to count so let’s just go with a vibe thing…..

And for extra ‘vibe’ we did spend 20-something-million so he must be, like, 20-something-million-better-than-Maldini…

It’s like those really expensive bottles of wine..they must be good because they’re expensive.

      4. No way you think it’s the other way around.
In fact, Maldini contributed 4 goals and 1 assist over the course of 302 minutes.
Chukwueze on the other hand, was an absolute joke with his old-school dribble that can only fool mediocre La Liga defenders. The guy is a complete flop as far as this season is concerned.

    1. In admittedly limited minutes, there is a massive difference between Maldini and Chukwueze. For the most part, Chukwueze has not impressed me but Maldini has shown very little at Milan to demonstrate he will be anything other than a mid-table starter at best. Based on the eye test, his stats at Monza deceive so best to sell him now while his value may have peaked.

      1. to be fair maldini only played roughly 450 minutes combined over various competitions in all of his time for the club. Add to that he mostly was fielded as a substitute on the left wing which isnt his natural position.
At monza he has scored 4 goals and made 1 assist in 11 games played over 326 minutes which equates to 3.5 full matches played while playing more centrally.
Im sure his time is up with us but its not because the lack of talent.

        1. Absolutely correct. The sample size with Milan is small. However, he is also 23 years old now so not exactly that young. Unless he becomes a late bloomers, there is limited room for growth.

          1. Unless we actually wants to play pulisic at the atm role he could easily be loftus backup and i do think the player deserves the benefit of the doubt, Sure he isnt super young but he probably still has a ten year career ahead of him so i think it could be worth renewing him for a couple of years and see what happens if he gets some more regular minutes next season but as i said i think he is gone but not for the right reason.

      2. Did u watch the games he played or are u going by stats? Daniel scored some crucial goals and assisted when he came on (not super impressed with him nor Chuk tbh). So he has that knack in his toolkit. But truth be told ….I’m not impressed as well. He has something but his rate of development should be better. He should be making more strides. Still has some time on his hands but it’s getting short

        1. I was referring specifically to his limited time playing for the Milan first team. I only watched his highlights for Monza and one appearance for Empoli. Again, small sample size but he doesn’t pass the eye test for me and can go to a club that hopefully will give him a better opportunity.

This is a legitimate question and not an attempt at making a point, but if his surname wasn’t Maldini do you think we would even be talking about him now?

          1. Ohhh ok. Yea same here then. I didn’t see much at Milan from him to say he was anything special. He did have some traits and some areas for potential but that was about it imo. What he needed was to develop. (Imo he should be a regista instead of forcing to b a CAM, he has the passing and defending skills).

“This is a legitimate question and not an attempt at making a point, but if his surname wasn’t Maldini do you think we would even be talking about him now?”. That’s as legitimate a question as any. I wonder about that too tbh.

  2. @maldinis Heir that was pioli fault and like it or not Chukwueze is good player if given the chance then he will prove it

    1. Pioli was the 2nd best coach in Serie A last season as evidenced by the league table!

But sure, definitely give the benefit of the doubt to a 20-something-million-new-signing over one of our youth products.

Remember: NEVER. QUESTION. THE. TRANSFER. MARKET.
