The upcoming season will be crucial for Alessio Romagnoli as he is expected to remain at the club beyond the summer window, a report claims.
MilanNews writes how there are many rumours about the future of Romagnoli, the most concrete is that Stefano Pioli will confirm him as one of the cornerstones of the Rossoneri project. Unless there are sensational news from next weeks, he will stay at Milan.
His contract is expiring in June 2022 and there is nothing to suggest that a renewal is imminent, and he also seemed to lose his position in the starting XI towards the end of last season with Fikayo Tomori and Simon Kjaer preferred.
It seems that the new season will be decisive for the future of Romagnoli and if he finds high levels of consistency again, it is not at all excluded that he will play more and can obtain the renewal of his contract.
For Milan, having a defender like the 26-year-old in the role of the first alternative to the starters will have its positives in terms of depth. Meanwhile, the armband will stay with him too, a sign of faith from Pioli.
