MN: Romagnoli remains committed to Milan despite uncertainty clouding his future

By Oliver Fisher -

Alessio Romagnoli is experiencing a summer of uncertainty with regards to his future, but the defender continues to work with commitment.

MilanNews writes how Romagnoli has not experienced a situation in his six years at the club where he is not a guaranteed starter, but now he is living it for the first time. With the €25m paid to Roma in the summer of 2015, Milan made it clear that they wanted to build their defence of the future around him.

The Rossoneri captain did not miss a single match until matchday 35 in the 2019-20 season before he was forced to miss the final three games due to a physical problem that troubled him into the new season, and after his return his performances have been marked by inconsistency.

Nonetheless, the 26-year-old seems to be willing to continue at Milan and the hard work he is putting in on the training ground is beginning to pay off. In yesterday’s match against Nice, Romagnoli was one of the best on the field.

Of course there is the issue of his contract expiring in June 2022, but this year year Milan will be committed to trying to maintain high levels on several fronts, and inevitably there will be more than 11 ‘starters’ with good depth a necessity. Pending market developments or any talk about his renewal, Romagnoli is focused.
