Up until the new year it looked as though Calhanoglu would be allowed to leave, but he became a crucial cog of the Milan machine after lockdown amassing six goals and eight assists in that period.
Now all the attention is regarding a possible contract renewal, and MilanNews are reporting that contacts between Milan and Gordon Stipic – the agent of Calhanoglu – are continuing.
The parties are seeking an agreement on his salary which will go to at least €3million net, while he currently earns about €2.5m. Bonuses are being worked on, while at the moment there is no talk of a possible release clause.
