MN: The end is near for Ibrahimovic with new Milan contract unlikely

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has suffered yet another injury setback which will force AC Milan to reflect on his future at the club as a player.

Pietro Mazzara’s column for MilanNews concludes with a ‘very bitter consideration’ on Ibrahimovic, who sustained a new calf problem while warming up to come on during yesterday’s 2-0 win over Lecce at San Siro.

It feels like ‘even “God Zlatan” must surrender’ as per the journalist, because even though he still has an impressive physique and wants to keep playing to help the team, there seems to be an ‘unwillingness to accept the fact that the mind thinks one thing, but the body reacts in another way’.

This highlights a bit of a ‘fragility’ regarding the Swede which means that he is limping towards a season finale after which, in all probability, Milan ‘will not renew his contract’.

There is no doubting the 41-year-old has given a lot to Milan since his return in the 2019-20 season, but all good things must come to an end.

  1. He was the catalyst to us coming back as soon as he came back our rise started. He promised us a trophy and we have a trophy. Everything said and done it’s time for him to finally bid an end to the glorious career that he’s had with us. I hope he retires for the sake of his post retirement career.

Hopefully he takes up the role of the director alongside Maldini or atleast has a future with us. Milan is his home.

    1. Yeah maybe he could be director who many young players admired and he could bring benefit negotiation for sweden, serbia, croation, etc
