MN: Training continues ahead of Juventus game – latest on Kjaer, Kalulu and Pobega

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are training in preparation for the Serie A clash with Juventus where a win would all but secure second place in the table.

As reported by Milan News, the Rossoneri took to the grass at Milanello as they prepare for the first match since losing against Inter at San Siro, a win which handed the Nerazzurri the league title.

Unfortunately for Stefano Pioli, he has a defensive crisis to contend with. The angry end to the Derby della Madonnina saw Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria both receive straight red cards, whilst Fikayo Tomori’s yellow card means he is also suspended.

Throw in the injuries to Simon Kjaer and Pierre Kalulu and Pioli is far from blessed for options.

Kjaer and Kalulu are not 100% ruled out of the clash with the Bianconeri just yet but they both underwent personalised work on Thursday, rather than training with the full group.

There was good news in regard to Tommaso Pobega, though. He trained with the rest of the team and now looks to be a serious option for Pioli. Whilst he is a midfielder, Pobega has been known to play at centre-back which would give Pioli something of an emergency option if there is an issue with Matteo Gabbia or Malick Thiaw.

  1. Glad to have pobega back but pioli better not field him as a cb, instead give him some minutes in the midfield.

  2. Tommy, Pierino, and even to an extent Kjaer, will need to load a few amounts of minutes into their legs – like 20mins each max.

We’ll be fine with Matteo e Malick – if JC Simic is on la panchina….why has he not even been mentioned anywhere? Curious, unless Primavera still need him?
