Since the Derby della Madonnina is the first game after the international break, there will naturally be a lot of focus on when the AC Milan and Inter stars will return to the respective training grounds.

The international break is currently in full swing and Milan have 12 players out on duty, meaning it’s a decimated squad at Milanello for the time being. The friendly against Virtus Entella yesterday, even if it was a loss, was an important way to keep some of the players active.

That said, the proper preparations will only really begin once all of the key players have returned to the training ground. According to MilanNews, Allegri has given the players a little bit of rest, with training set to resume on Tuesday.

So, what will the squad look like then? Matteo Gabbia, Samuele Ricci, Mike Maignan, Christopher Nkunku, Rafael Leao and Strahinja Pavlovic are all expected to be there on Tuesday. Luka Modric and David Odogu, meanwhile, will return on Wednesday.

The remaining players, who are Davide Bartesaghi, Alexis Saelemaekers, Koni De Winter and Zachary Athekame, will be back on Thursday. In short, most players will be back rather early and that’s great news in view of the derby.
