MN: Why Milan were forced to abandon Faivre pursuit and turn to Messias

By Oliver Fisher -

The penultimate day of the transfer window yesterday was a frantic one for AC Milan as their main target switched very quickly during the evening.

According to the latest from MilanNews, the Milan management tried to sign Romain Faivre from Brest and kept talks alive for as long as they could, even making two offers. However, in the end the deal did not go through as – at a certain point in the negotiation – the Ligue 1 club took him off the market.

Because of this, the Rossoneri were forced to change targets and turned to Junior Messias of Crotone. The two clubs were thinking about the figures of a potential deal for Faivre, but then the decision was made to remove the 23-year-old from the market due to an internal issue within the French club and so the deal fell through.

It must be recalled that Faivre was called up for the Brest squad to face Strasbourg on Sunday but did not show up to leave with the team on Saturday, which appears to have angered their leadership.

  1. Or maybe, and this is just a stab in the dark but here me out, maybe Elliott group is a bunch of clueless, cheap that have zero clue how to run an actual football club and are probably still confusing real football with their native sport called hand-egg.

And they spent an entire mercato making ridiculous and unrealistic offers for good players. One of the greatest clubs in the entire world reduced to begging for handouts, buying relegation fodder and losing superstars on free transfers.

    1. Elliott Group hasn’t made ANY offers or haven’t been involved with ANY negotiations regarding players. They just say “yes” or “no” to the requests by the Maldini&Massara duo.

Elliott decides whether the deal is sustainable or not. Nothing else.

      1. So it was Maldini that decided not to pay 15mill outright to Brest? It was Maldini that decided not to pay 25 mill for Vlasic? It was Maldini that decided not to pay for Ziyech, Isco, Corona, Ilicic? Not Elliott and their sustainability BS?

        1. well, Maldini has a budget for this summer and when he has spent all of it and still want to buy another player, then he asked Elliott if they can give extra money or not. so in this way Elliot decide the extra money requested is sustainable or not.
