Christian Pulisic is expected to start on the bench in Milan-Bologna tomorrow given his recent schedule, and the fact that Max Allegri likes his super-sub qualities.
Pulisic remains a key player for Milan, having done very well so far this season. After the goal against Bari, he followed that up with the goal against Lecce (excluding the Cremonese fiasco), coming off the bench to seal the deal.

Naturally, as MilanNews highlights, this meant the attacking midfielder got a lot of minutes for the US national team during the break. To be more exact, he played 155 out of a possible 185 minutes, once again showcasing his important role in the team.
Super-sub solution
Of course, nearly getting the maximum minutes during the break has had an effect on Milan’s approach. Between training, time zones and transatlantic journeys, Pulisic isn’t in his best condition and this is something the Rossoneri are well aware of.

The player has become used to these situations, having done it practically his entire career, but Allegri isn’t willing to risk him against a team like Bologna. As such, Pulisic could start on the bench tomorrow and be used more as an ‘attacking wildcard’ during the game, like against Lecce.
Obviously, the final decision will be made today during the final training sessions for tomorrow’s match against Bologna, but the feeling is that things are moving quickly in that direction.

If Puli is deemed fit, he has to start. If he does not, it would mean the 3-5-2 would feature Salad and Santi? If I am Vincent Italiano, I’d love that!
LOL. I can already sense the “Pulisic will leave because he’s a bench player now” -people screaming “I TOLD YOU SO!!!!” just because he had a rough week an the international “break” and had to fly half-way around the world just before the match tomorrow. 😀 😀 😀
So, you buy this? LOL.
Yeah but this has been a theme in his career. Productive but gets benched in favor of flashier players with no end product. If Allegri treat him as a super sub even a little this year he will leave Milan at the end of the season.
The disrespect to this player in light of his record is stunning. Any compliment also has a backhanded jab. My understanding is he hurt his hand against Japan. It was interesting that following the Lecce game he was fit to play 90 mins for the USMNT. He needs to leave in the January window.
Agree. I suppose then we’ll just get to see Modric hold the ball the whole match…
Listening to Allegri in the press conference, Pulisic basically becomes a sub to be use in certain situations. He ain’t going to put up with this past this year.
Pulisic, say goodbye to the 1st half.
And any assist or goal you score late in the game ( just like against Lecce,) will in Allegri’s mind, only reinforce the notion that you’re the perfect “super-sub.”
That’s how you ruin the spirit of a player coming into his prime. There’s no way off the bench without teammates being injured.
or, it’s how you get a player pushing to leave after the WC.
Here’s why Pulisic is not going to be successful this year. First, he does not fit Allegri’s system. People have been dreaming that Allegri is going to find a way to fit him in are delusion. The system takes precident. He is a winger which Allegri does not use. Allegri has made it pretty clear that Nkunko and Leao are preferred choices. Secondly, if they are bringing him on because they are behind he is not the player you want. The other team will be parking the bus and you need big players in the box. He’s the shortest guy on the team. Personally, I hate watching Allegri ball. ACM will cetainly win games and do better then last year. Top 4…. maybe as the league is weaker this year. As an American feeling my player is not playing after leading the team in G/As and how tedious Allegri ball is I will be watching other games and checking ACM’s score. That’s it. I watch football to be entertain and this is not going to do it.
He played 65 minutes 4 days ago, what is the issue. He’s in fine form. Stop the nonsense Sempre Milan.
Allegri said Pulisic was fine in press conference and that Nkunku can only do 25-30 minutes so puli probably going to start, but this article is misleading Allegri never said anything about super sub etc. I think he will get his minutes
Allegri playing the same XI til the wheels fall off lol
If Pulisic does not fit Allegris system, Puli should start looking for a January transfer now and not wait.
The World Cup is to close. Puli should only be benched if he is not playing well or is hurt, All other reasons are mumbo jumbo to make an excuse to play your buddies. Allegri seems to be more comfortable with players that he coached in the past? What does this say about the coach?
I have a great idea. Lets bench our leading scorer for unclear reasons even though he has been productive. Way to keep your players motivated. This season is going to go poorly.
