MN: Why RB Leipzig striker Sesko can be crossed off Milan’s list

By Oliver Fisher -

Benjamin Sesko was talked about as being a serious target for AC Milan in view of the summer mercato, but the chances of him ending up in Serie A are next to none.

According to MilanNews, the idea of Sesko ending up at Milan or in Italy in general is ‘very difficult, if not impossible’, despite the fact his agents visited Milano in the past couple of weeks which sparked the rumours.

The 20-year-old at RB Leipzig – who turns 21 tomorrow – does not have a valuation dictated by his club but by the €65m release clause in his contract. To this we must add the agents’ commission which should be around 10%.

This means that an interest clubs would have to invest over €70m in fees up front to land him, with Leipzig unwilling to negotiate the clause and instead wanting to get full value for a player with undoubted talent.

In recent weeks the Bundesliga club have been trying to find an agreement over a renewal, offering the Slovenia international a big pay rise from €2m net per year to around €3.5m after a season with 18 goals in 42 games where most came from January onwards.

Thus, it seems almost impossible for him to come to Italy. Only Napoli – in the event of Victor Osimhen’s sale – could afford him. Instead there are two big names in the Premier League that are pushing hard to get him: Chelsea and Arsenal.

Other offers, i.e. those outside Europe from Saudi Arabia, will not be evaluated by the player. So a move to England or another year at Leipzig are the only options left on the table.

    1. but we can be sure he would be a guarantee than spending 20Mio for a striker who would eventually not succes and the next year we are searching a new striker.. Ibra is his Idol. If you wann be top you have to spent money..

    2. Nobody is nan idiot, ok… They are smart and wise on like Milan management that sell their young players for peanuts or release them out of contracts… there is no youth team player milan have ever sold for 15m…

    1. 75 or 65 for sesko is just too much what has he done to prove himself to be worth that amount. Transfer market this generation is just so annoying 🙄 I would rather go for Zirkzee for 45 and be rest assured that he knows the league and can also compete, I dont see any quality in sesko than zirkzee

      1. Sesko has been scoring double digits for a few years now in the Leipzig system. Meanwhile, Zirkzee is older than Sesko and could very well be a one season wonder. For le that is a much higher risk than Sesko, who is actually a proven target man over a number of seasons and a more natural replacement for Giroud

    2. Yes, in Zirkzee’s favour. Zirkzee came from the Bayern youth system and has been a regular starter for 2 seasons. Sesko has been a regular starter for 4 seasons. Sesko’s finishing is horrendous. It’s easy to stat-pad in the Bundesliga because of the nature of their football i.e. end to end. Missing chances isn’t a big deal when you get 10 a match. Werner tanked in the EPL and the last tall striker who was crap in front of goal i.e. Mario Gomez, flopped in Serie A. You don’t sign strikers who miss easy chances. Sesko could be another Higuain, a flat track bully. Zirkzee has a much higher ceiling.

    3. Zirkzee has a $40m release clause in his contract which is why he is valued at that otherwise he is a $60-70m player

  1. Just with Leipzig alone and hfor the same of a few million with two years we missed
    szobozlai 20m now worth 70m
    Sesko 15m now 70m
    Olmo 15m now 45m
In their place castellejo, ibra renewal (injured all year) Diaz on loan

    1. Sure, Szobozlai is worth €70m! Did you forget that the values of Leao, Tomori, Tonali, Theo and Mike also went up? There’s no point in crying over who we missed out on.

    2. yes correct, and many more. RBS has generted 500 mio from seelings, but we do not wana be a development club and as it seems we do not need this money

  2. He’s apparently very close to Arsenal. Makes sense they have the EPL money and can afford to gradually integrate him into the side over the next couple seasons. Whereas Milan badly need a starting no.9 that can hit the ground running.

Saying all that, I’m optimistic if we get Zirkzee, he’s not a pure goalscorer but we can convince him to choose us if our competition is Serie A clubs

      1. You kiss your dada’s Jerry’s a** with that mouth?!Yes you are.Clueless gringo. Those 100m were most from selling tonali you mut.Who the f you think you are fooling?!

      2. haha.. it was Tonali 80m, jery spend 0 to buy Tonali, does nothing to rising Tonali’s value, fired people who bought Tonali in discounted price & now trying to repeat it in Theo. desperately try to ruin M&M, Tonali (now Theo) image as traitor.
jery fired bargain master, sold Milanista favorite player & now try to sell our best player. all of them who put Milan in their hart for the sake of profit

    1. He’s short and that he’s Brazilian is irrelevant, Brazil don’t produce the best players in the world anymore, France and England do.

  3. take karim konate, and then take the 50mio 2 years later from a premier league club. From sadio to haaland to adeyemi, be not that stupid plz
