CorSport: Modric asks Milan for four guarantees next season – the requirements

Luka Modric could well stay at AC Milan next season and a report has outlined what will be required for him to stay.

There is no question of love from Modric and if his future were to be determined on that alone, there would be no question. Last night, he reaffirmed his appreciation for Milan and his gratitude for the opportunity to represent the club.

However, at 40, he needs assurances over the future. After all, he will not keep playing if there is nothing much at stake.

This has been the case for a few months now, but his final set of conditions has now been outlined and they are more than achievable.

Four requests from Modric

As MilanNews relays from Corriere dello Sport this morning, Modric will ask for four ‘precise guarantees’ to continue with the Rossoneri next season. However, each ties into the next, so it is not much, even if it sounds like a lot.

Firstly, he wants a competitive squad around him next season, one which is capable of playing to a good degree in the Champions League – which is another of the four requirements.

Finally, he wants clarity on the technical project, with Massimiliano Allegri at the helm. His appreciation for the Italian is key and he wants to see him remain at the top, but a general refining of the club’s aims and structure would also be a benefit.

Of course, everyone would benefit from this in the long run, and if Modric can push the club to make these moves, his appreciation from the fans would only rise.

    1. They are all there. Competitive squad, to be competitive in CL, Allegri staying and clarity on the technical project. The first 2 are close so it could actually be 3.

      1. It could be 3 but it could be 2, clarity and MA staying are pretty much the same thing. Modric is not going to meddle with the SD matter (nor should he), it’s OK to want to know and to even request for someone to stay as a coach but these other things…

        1. He isn’t. He just wants clarity on what is the plan. But it could be 2, yes. Clarity about the project could include “is Allegri staying?”

          1. It all boils to two fundamental questions (and answer): shall we be more competitive or not (UCL wise) and who shall AC Milan’s coach be. From there, it’s up to Allegri to fight and work on getting the players (asked) in collaboration with SD, whoever that may be, after all, Allegri rightly asked for that and clearly demanded to be more involved, it should’ve been like that from the very beginning, we lost one season…

  1. Just a fleeting thought but – given he’s a fan – maybe he wants to know about the technical project because he’s got an eye on staying on in some backroom capacity after next year… 👀

    1. I think he is going to live in Madrid after he retires, with a role at the club. What you wrote would be great but I think chances are super low.

  2. Its imposible what Luka ask. First we should sell 10 players and bring new 10 fro that need time so im not sure he will wait for that.
He should stay here and help young players for developed

    1. Far from it. We should sell five players (Odogu, Pervis, RLC, Leao and Santi), give back Nicklas
and bring seven players (2 DC, RWB, LWB, MC
and 2 SC) and bring back Bondo & two of our youngsters, namely Comotto or Zeroli (it goes without saying, this is something that is not so important in the grand scheme of things and it
can also change during the season) & Camarda.

  3. Another fake story put out by Allegri’s minions in the media. Modric said this? To who?
Do we just print any type of nonsense now?

    1. Everything is nonsense when you’re stupid. That is the problem, not the story, “minions”, Modric or Allegri.

      1. ” Please keep me, Modric really wants me back”.
” Real Madrid really wants to sign me too.”
Found the one dope who believes this nonsense.

Maybe this is Allegri himself, posting in comment sections desperately trying to save his job. Nobody else could possibly be dumb enough to want another season of this terrible, boring football.

  4. Basically he’s asking for what every one of us have been asking for years – credibility to Milan and a sustainable project …

  5. He lost me at keeping Allegri. Ok we lose Modric, he would only be here 1 more year max. Allegri has to go!! Milan got as far as they did off of individual brilliance and lots of luck. Plus why would Modric say “get a bunch of better players around me than Milan have currently” while he still has a match left and has to be around those exact players he is calling crap. Modric is a professional on and off the pitch and knows not to say that. Allegri better get sacked. Idc where Milan finish as long as I don’t have to watch Allegri ball anymore.
