Luka Modric has just arrived at Casa Milan to sign a one year deal with AC Milan, and the fans were there to greet him.
‘Modric Day’ is taking off, and after the completion of his medical and other sporting tests, he has arrived at the Milan headquarters to complete the final step of his move.

So, it was only fair that a few greeted him as he walked into the building to sign the deal with his boyhood club.
Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews was in attendance, and posted the video seen below, with fans audibly excited, chanting ‘Luka, Luka, Luka’ as he walked past them. A king’s greeting indeed.

To offer an olive branch here, it kinda reminds me of when Ronaldinho came to Milan. Former Balon winner but clearly past his prime. Sure he “might” have “something to offer”..just as long as fans realize this isnt prime Modric we’re getting they’ll be just fine.
He is rossonerri fan from child. It is better if he can retire here in ACM , more better if he help ACM get scudetto before hang his boot.
I agree he could help us and his experience is undeniable but….he is old and not the player he once was (I’m guessing we’re getting him for the seniority aspect).

Giroud wasn’t really an “about to hang my boots.” Then again, he was 34 when he signed for Milan. 6 years away from 40. I hope you’re not going to say “age ain’t nothing but a number,” because it does tell on the body.
As for Ibra during the scudetto-winning season. “Zlatan Ibrahimović played 11 Serie A matches for AC Milan in 2022. He made a total of 11 appearances in the 2021-2022 season, which includes matches played in both 2021 and 2022, according to Transfermarkt.”
Finally, the issue of Ballon d’Or is irrelevant at this point, considering again the age of the characters involved.
I do like Luka, but looking at his final chapter at Real Madrid, I’m not sure he has the strong personality to really influence this Milan team.
Look at the goal contributions per minutes for Zlatan for the scudetto season and especially the season before it. He was a monster – even at his age. Look at the importance of his contributions during the scudetto season WHEN HE PLAYED with a fcked up knee (with no ACL) while needing pain killers and constant treatment to remove the fluids from his swollen knee. At his age. 🙂
I’m not saying Modric will play 38 league matches and be stellar in every single one but I’m saying he’ll contribute a lot to Milan’s play. In a positive way. He’ll inspire the younger ones and hopefully teach ’em a thing or two about being professional. You know, the one thing that was so fcked up last season…
Zlatan contribution was terible during the scudetto season. The whole team had to play for him cause he could hardly walk on the field… We started winning when he was benched and Giroud started to play. Also in Modric case not to mention he is not a target man striker who will mostly just stand in the 16 box and use his size for headers, he is a mid and that role is way harder for an old player.

Absolutely relevant. Shows that prime Modric was always considered better than prime G & Z. Every single one of those three were beyond their best when coming to Milan.
Yea, you don’t get Zlatan at his age for only goals. You get him for his impact and to instill a mentality or else get karate kicked up lol. He’s been a game changer wherever he went esp at the league level but was due to spreading his mentality for winning….note he was injured quite alot but we kept him for impact. It’s why we had to get Giroud to help out. Modric has basically been in two teams so we’re unable to measure that similar sort of impact that Z has. Not saying he isn’t good but this isn’t prime Modric you’re getting as I alluded to above and I’m guessing we’re hoping he has similar seniority impact those other two had (that’s where I cast a doubtful eye).
Giroud, although he was starting to rack up the years, was much much younger than Modric when we got him. Not sure I can agree that Modric was better than either…firstly due to different positions being played, the variance in ages and also The Balon argument to me is weak. Lots of great players haven’t won that award.

Modrić is obviously a veteran by now, which means that his physical — and even technical — form isn’t quite what it used to be. But calling him an “old piece of junk,” as we saw some so-called ‘fan’ doing here, isn’t just mind-blowingly stupid – it’s downright disgraceful: it shows a shocking lack of respect for a legendary champion and a flawless professional who will now be wearing our colors.
I sincerely hope that this kind of attitude – repugnant, contemptible, and frankly pathetic – is confined to a microscopic, irrelevant fringe within the Milan fanbase.

To be fair to Gre-No-Li its actually said in the 3rd comment from above in this article.
I meant as in I searched to see what he had in quotes and nothing came up. I thought because he had it in quotes meant it was the exact phrasing someone used. But instead I’m only seeing him as stating that.
Also not saying it wasn’t said by someone here. Certainly not everyone likes this particular transfer but if you’re going to quote people at least 1. do it properly and 2. Make sure it exists

Personally I do like the transfer and think maybe some of our younger players can learn a thing or two from him besides he brings some much needed leader qualities to the squad. When that is said I would have loved the transfer even more so had he arrived 5-10 years ago but if he can stay fit I’m fairly confident to say that it wont be a bust as he is still a great quality player. I really hope we can keep a hold on Liberali because I think it could be greatly beneficial for him to rub shoulders with him for a season or two while slowly getting integrated in the first team.

And no I don’t think he’s a piece of junk for sure. That’s just silly. Plus… he’s ours now so I’m very keen on him doing well. Even if he’s not my preference due to age, I think some of his leadership, mentality and senior vibes can be good. We’ve missed it the last two years. The younger guys who ended up having to lead when Ibra, Maldini, Giroud and co were gone weren’t able to provide that same sort of leadership. It’s been a huge void the last few seasons. Hopefully this fills some.

Absolutely he can hopefully have a good impact on the rest of players which we have been in a dire need of for some time but we certainly also need some other acquisitions that can have an instant impact.
