GdS: Modric waiting for a call from Milan – all his worries amid radio silence

Luka Modric is expecting a call from AC Milan to outline their plans for the future. So far, it has not yet arrived.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, Modric’s Ballon d’Or is still there at Casa Milan, proudly displayed alongside everything else the club have managed to cram into their 126-year history. The trophy room though makes Milanisti hearts bleed as they look back with dismay at what the present has to offer.

Even that Ballon d’Or – temporarily donated by Modric – generates a certain anguish: Milan fans now expect him to take it away from them any day now, and for both of them to disappear. If last summer there was already a dire need for a strong presence, now things are even more grave.

Milan must rebuild without a Champions League spot, having squandered it in the final straight. Modric, in the eyes of the Rossoneri fans, would be the totem from which to try to rebuild, in this ocean of uncertainty.

Waiting for a call

The situation surrounding Luka Modric is becoming increasingly uncertain as the days pass. The first blow was no Champions League football. Then came the sackings of Massimiliano Allegri and Igli Tare, whom the former Real Madrid man was close to.

A definitive decision hasn’t been made by the 40-year-old. It’s as if the Croatian was somehow hoping to find a valid reason to continue his stay at Milanello, and is desperately trying to latch onto some good reason to avoid ending his time at the club on the worst possible note.

The problem is that right now there is nobody there to speak to him, given the management cull. Zlatan Ibrahimovic called him more than once to persuade him to stay, but obviously the situation at the club has deteriorated dramatically.

Modric would have liked to leave for the World Cup without a care in the world, having clarified his club future. Yet, there’s not even the framework to even begin to imagine anything, and uncertainty is his worst enemy.

Luka looks around and sees a club where, at the moment, there’s no sporting side. He is waiting for some clear indications from the ownership regarding the new directors and the head coach. The more days of silence pass, the more likely it is that Modric will come collect his Ballon d’Or from Casa Milan.

  1. Not true, we ha e 10 players in the WC, for them this is all it matters right now and Luka is one of them. Cardinal is taking his time to decide, and it’s justfully so, he needs to get this right.

Stop spreading all this panic and bad vibe. We should be happy we fired Allegri and Furlani, it was painful to watch our team e en at a price of winning scudeto. This is blessing in the sky.

And NO I do not want to hear how Maldini would bla bla bla, future is ahead not behind. Get over it and enjoy the ride

    1. do we’ve younger players who better than 40yo Modric?
      replacing Theo w/ Estu?
      Calabria w/ Royal?
      Giroud & Jovic w/ Gimenez & Nkunku?

  2. Also BS Story. Modric isn’t waiting or anything but to play in the WC. He’s not coming back to play another season in an absolute disaster of a club in EL…

  3. And who would actually be calling him? Zlatan, who is occupied his own WC-adventures or Cardinale, who doesn’t even know who Modric is? Everyone else has been sacked. 🤦‍♂️

    What an amateur hour… Again… 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
