Geoffrey Moncada risks falling victim to the managerial shake-up that is expected to happen at AC Milan, reports claim.

In addition to Giorgio Furlani – who is expected to leave his role as Milan’s CEO – the chief scout Moncada Moncada is also said to be leaving. He has been at the club since 2018, joining as part of the Elliott Management revamp.

Moncada on the move?

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the feeling is that Moncada’s time at the club could end after eight years. He is being pursued by OGC Nice in his country of origin, while Sevilla are considering giving him the opportunity to try out LaLiga.

On Sunday in Genoa, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s absence from the stands alongside Gerry Cardinale caused quite a stir. The Swede wasn’t the only notable absentee, as Moncada – despite the match’s importance to the club’s Champions League bid – was also absent.

Calciomercato.com also claim that Moncada could be on the way out. Moncada has always enjoyed the strong and determined support of the ownership over the years, achieving excellent results as a talent scout (with operations like Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu).

Problems began when he took a step forward in his strategic decision-making powers. This season, he has been a constant presence in negotiations, but has rarely been seen at Milanello. Moncada remains close to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which means he hasn’t built much of a rapport with Allegri.

Moncada is now waiting to see what his future holds, and in the meantime he’s receiving strong interest from French clubs regarding a return home. Nice and Monaco are interested in him, as are Sevilla, as Tuttosport said.

  1. Good. He took away the Italian identity of the club, we became a foreign legion. Yes, Italian players aren’t at the level they once were, but an Italian club should always have Italians in the squad. Hopefully the new scout is Italian and is tasked with finding promising Italian players.

    1. Brother you already said it, Italian players aren’t at the level they once were. So why should we sign mid Italian players just to have Italians? That Scudetto team in 2022 only had one Italian in the first eleven.

      1. It’s better to sign a mid Italian player than a random no name player from the Belgium league or Ligue 1 that no one has heard of.

      2. And what good is rlc, fofana, and a host of dead weight in the squad who aren’t Italians. I will play Italians of the same low quality over foreign counterparts

        1. And your final position in the table will reflect that. But hey, at least you finished 10th with average Italians.

“Oh but the Milan DNA of winning…. “

    2. You all should stop with Italian identity statement. No Italian player is at high level nowadays besides Donnarumma. This is not a coincidence the Italian teams can’t make any impact on the higher stage, that the Natinal team has missed 3 world cups in a row, and that no players in their prime want to move to Serie A. When Milan last won the Serie A, it wasn’t because of Italian core. So stop this bullsh**THE of giving priority to Italian players.

      1. Inter have reached two UCL finals in recent years. In the 2023 final, 5 Italians started – Di Marco (admittedly a bottler), Acerbi, Bastoni, Barella and Darmian. In 2025, 4 Italians started. No, Italian players aren’t what they used to be, but stop pretending they’re at the level of a team like Scotland!

        1. inter reached two UCL finals because they have had continuity with the same coach and competent management, in team well built with SOME Italians – not BECAUSE of the Italians.

Stop spinning the narrative to make it fit your point.

    3. We signed Ricci just to have an Italian player and Ricci has proven that it makes no sense signing Italian players when they are not even good enough to play for Milan.

      1. Partly true, but he is an international class player. There’s a big difference between signing some rando from Belgium and a guy proven in Serie A.

        1. Right, let’s play Locatelli instead of Rabiot and Christante instead of Modric. Winning Milan. But hey, at least they are Italian.

    1. Second this.
He wasn’t actually bad as a scout under Elliot. It’s only when we changed his position that he could no longer do a decent job.

      1. The problem is he only looks from black players from Ligue 1. If he did his job properly, he would look in Spain, Brazil, Argentina and other leagues.

          1. It’s not racist at all. It would be racist if I sad signing black players was an issue or attacked the black players in the squad, but that’s not the case – I have defended Leao and Fofana more than any other regular poster here. Moncada has a type and that was his type.

        1. Now you’re contradicting your earlier point about not picking Italians. But it’s OK as long as he looks for Spanish, Brazilian or Argentine players?

          Make up your mind.

          1. Got him… it’s not about the best possible players.

It’s about thwir colour. My man must just go back to Lazio with Tare🤣 and the whole ‘I defend Fofana…’ sounds like “ I can’t be racist, I have black friends”🤣

And when Moncada goes against ‘his type’ and signs ‘non black players, that aren’t in Ligue 1” those have all been smash hits right according to mr Hulk??
Uber, you’ll never enjoy football if you look at colour my man, you’ll miss out on good players. Never say that statement out loud in front of proper football fans, you’ll embarrass yourself.
That kind of thinking belongs in Lotito’s club, not here

  2. Moncada is a scout. Period. Making him anything other than that is dense. Kick him out? OK. Who’s doing the scouting?
