SM: Moncada’s advice to Maldini’s negotiations – Milan ready to invest in De Ketelaere

AC Milan are serious about signing Charles De Ketelaere and he is currently the first choice target to come in and bolster the attack, we can reveal.

As our colleagues at SempreMilan.it report, the Belgian playmaker was initially pointed out to Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara by chief scout Goeffrey Moncada, and he could possibly represent perhaps the first expensive signing of the RedBird Capital era.

The Rossoneri have opened a dialogue with Club Brugge and while there is still no official offer from the Serie A champions, they have found out that the Belgian club are open to selling for an amount close to €30m.

A big investment

It is not a cheap operation but it is one that Milan are convinced by especially given that their attempts to sign Nicolò Zaniolo have been met with a €60m asking price from Roma.

Moncada’s judgment aside, De Ketelaere is one of the most interesting young forwards on the European stage as evidenced by the Opta data which notes how he is the first player born since 2000 with at least 15 goals and 15 assists already (in Belgium he totalled 19 goals and 16 assists).

A quality No.10

These are great numbers for a very promising player, at least that’s what Maldini and Massara think given that they are willing to spend almost a third of the budget made available by Gerry Cardinale (around €100m) on the 21-year-old, thus reinforcing the attack with a statement signing.
