A journalist has claimed that AC Milan’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada is a fan of Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller.
Milan currently only have Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders as players who can play naturally in the double pivot together, at least while waiting for Ismael Bennacer’s return.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek continues to be used more as an attacking midfielder while Yunus Musah has now been shifted to the right side as a sort of hybrid player.
As a result, there have been links with a number of different players such as Warren Bondo and Morten Frendrup, though it cannot be ruled out that a signing arrives from abroad.
Speaking on the YouTube channel of Calciomercato.it, Francesco Letizia of Sportitalia was asked about a midfielder that Milan could sign in the coming months to complete the department.
“I really like Angelo Stiller, who I know Moncada really likes. He can give Milan a further leap in quality. However, we need to understand what Fonseca wants,” he said (via PianetaMilan).
“Whether [he wants] a reserve to alternate with Fofana and Reijnders or a starter to bring the Dutchman into the attacking midfield and move Pulisic.
“In my opinion, the team today performs better with the American as an attacking midfielder, so if we need to find a rotation element, history teaches us that players only grow if you make them play a lot.
“A midfielder is needed, but Fonseca needs to understand the level. If he is inclined to try a new balance with two more defensive players in front of the defence by moving Reijnders, then a starter should be signs.
“Stiller is a good name, as is Ricci, even if I don’t agree with the asing price. If, on the other hand, Fonseca is convinced to keep Pulisic in the attacking midfield, then a reserve is needed, but he must be a player who must have the right space.”
Stiller is a 23-year-old German international who came through the youth sector at Bayern Munich before joining Stuttgart in 2023. He made 31 league appearances last season, with one goal and five assists, while this season he is on 20 games played already.
omg, omg, omg… bro if we can actually make this happen… this guy will be one of the best deep-lying play-makers! So composed and meticulous for his age, amazing player!
but agree on the Puli role, Fonseca needs to decide. If he stays as CAM, Gnoto would be a good choice on the right or maybe even Zhergova but the latter would be harder!
Antoni milambo, Malik tilman, morten frendrup, Malick fofana these players should be our target
Would be a good signing but expensive for Milan price standards.
Would rather give Zeroli minutes if Stiller doesn’t join
They really need to recruit some Italian players for depth. We are operating on 17 unconditional slots plus Gabbia, Terracciano, Calabria, Sportiello and Florenzi. And most of the Italian players have been unavailable.
Major recruitment failure.
Gnoto, Fagioli, Ricci, Parisi are all good options but some couch potatoes will say that “they aren’t good enough”…
Agree.
For most of the players mentioned in the article. If they were recruited then someone else has to leave the list to make space for them. Solve one problem and create another.
The players you mentioned at least give depth without forcing someone else out.
It would be better to go for an Italian, if Bennacer can regain his fitness, it’s better we get an Italian player.
This Milan will never spend 40mil on a midfielder. Ricci is a pipe dream. Instead it will be another 20mil gamble, and if we’re lucky it will turn into another Reijnders.
I would love to move Reijnders into the 10 and get the most our of him offensively and creatively. Then get another DM into the team to balance it. You know, actual 6’s not named Bennacer that can play in a double pivot …
