Montolivo deemed redundant by Milan and is set to leave the club

According to Sky Italia, AC Milan midfielder and ex-captain Riccardo Montolivo has been told that he will need to find a new club.

When the preseason started, the former Fiorentina player was left off the team traveling to the United States, which was a clear indication that he was not in the plans for the new season.

Since joining the Rossoneri in 2013, Montolivo has collected 158 appearances for the club across all competitions. During his time at the club he scored 10 goals and assisted another 15.

Last season the player featured 18 in only 26 games, starting only 13 games and coming on as a substitute in the rest.

The asking price for the midfielder is unknown for now, but according to Transfermarkt.co.uk Montolivo’s value is £1.35 million. Considering this, it is possible that the club will release the player for free.
