Montolivo believes Pioli should be given more ‘time’ to perfect Milan

AC Milan has claimed just two points in their last four league games, resulting in understandable criticism for Stefano Pioli. However, as argued by Riccardo Montolivo, the manager should be given more time to perfect the team.

Milan squandered yet another 2-0 lead in their last outing, taking on Lecce away from home, and that was the straw that broke the camel’s back for many fans. However, the Rossoneri have made it clear that they still have trust in Pioli, who keeps his job for now.

Speaking to Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, the former Milan captain and midfielder Montolivo was asked about the situation. He stated that the manager needs more time to work with the team, especially considering the many signings made in the summer.

“As far as Milan are concerned, I see the glass as half full. The latest results have not been up to par but they are making good progress overall. In the Champions League, they have collected less than what they deserved and in Serie A, there is time. Let’s not forget that Pioli had to rebuild the team after the transfer market, let’s give him time,” he stated.

Most Milan fans probably don’t agree with the former player, especially considering how many injuries the Rossoneri have had. Many of them have been muscular and Pioli must take responsibility for the work of his staff.
