Montolivo praises Giroud: “Many goalkeepers wouldn’t come out there”

Olivier Giroud was one of the heroes for AC Milan against Genoa as he made a crucial save in the dying moments. Yes, a crucial save, as the Frenchman had to take over the duties of Mike Maignan who was sent off.

Christian Pulisic scored the winner in the 87th minute and deep into injury time, Maignan was sent off. Milan had no more subs and Giroud thus took the gloves, making a crucial save a few moments later.

Speaking to DAZN, as cited by MilanNews, the former Milan man and current pundit Riccardo Monotlivo shared his thoughts on Giroud’s save. He praised the veteran striker, stating that not many goalkeepers would dare to come out there.

“His timing was surprising, many goalkeepers wouldn’t come out there. He was good at reading the play and intervening without fouling. Giroud’s hands are on these three points,” he stated.

Thanks to the win, Milan are in first place with 21 points, two points ahead of their city rivals Inter. The Rossoneri will face Juventus after the break and it will be an important clash for them.

  1. It was better than good. Like, De Gea wouldn’t come off the line on that one. Giroud has surprised me, I couldn’t believe how good he did.
