Montpellier coach makes admission regarding Milan target: “We will not be able to keep him”

Elye Wahi is one of AC Milan’s targets for the summer window and an admission has come from Montpellier regarding his future.

It is well known that Milan intend to sign a new striker this summer given that Divock Origi has not convinced since arriving on a free transfer, Olivier Giroud will turn 37 this year and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is four years older plus he could leave or retire.

Earlier this week TMW reported that the management are planning their moves ahead of the mercato and they have an eye on Wahi, ‘the extraordinary French talent who made Milan fall in love’. He is just 20 years of age and has 12 league goals this season.

Montpellier head coach Michel Der Zakarian was interviewed by RMC Sport in France and he was asked about the future of Wahi, seemingly confirming that the club have let him know they will be letting him move on this summer.

“We know that he will leave shortly and that we will not be able to keep him. Many clubs today work like this. We have excellent players but they often leave. That’s why our season has been excellent, even if it is denigrated by many. We have good players who are in demand from the best European clubs,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).
