Monza star Colpani reveals he supported Milan and reminisces about Berlusconi

By Isak Möller -

Monza’s Andrea Colpani has been one of the main breakthrough players in this Serie A season, scoring six goals in the opening 12 rounds. In a long interview, the forward revealed that he supported AC Milan as a child.

Colpani joined Monza permanently in the summer of 2022 and had a good first season with the club. However, the real breakthrough has certainly come in this campaign. He has six goals already, as mentioned, and he also scored against Milan in the pre-season friendly.

Playing in an attacking midfield role, he has formed a fierce attack along with Milan loanee Lorenzo Colombo. He has a knack for being at the right place at the right time, showcasing striker’s instincts on many of his goals.

In an interview with SportWeek, as cited by Calciomercato.com, he revealed that he supported Milan as a kid. He also reminisced about the late Silvio Berlusconi, who of course owned Milan before he took over Monza.

“If I support Milan? As a child I did, yes. Berlusconi? I will always thank the president. When I talk about him, I get emotional. He has always been kind to me. He said I was his favourite, perhaps because of my good boy face, certainly because of my technique. He greeted everyone with a ‘hello’ and a handshake. Just me, he called by name: ‘Hello, Colpani’.

“I met him in 2005. An uncle of mine has an advertising agency that works with Milan and Inter, so he always has tickets for the match. That time he took me and my best friend to San Siro. I think it was against Cagliari. In short, we sit in a Sky box, next to us we see Berlusconi. My uncle takes us by the hand and goes over to him: ‘President, a photo with the children?’ He makes us sit on his knees, my uncle took the picture,” he stated.

  1. If we’re going to get him I would want him staying one more season at Monza, Pioli isn’t Ancelotti, so one season on loan then integrate him into the team. For us older Milan fans, I always try to imagine what Pioli would achieve with this squad…the quality level is so different from the last time he managed us, Ambrosini was our Utility man, and he’s better than all of our current midfielders which is insane. Ambro makes Krunic look like Fillipo Carrobio

  2. Fillipo who??,😂😂😂If its any consolation our best midfielder should be back by January bro. Hang in there and Forza Milan!

  3. We need yo sign Colpani, he will give us the creativity we are crying out for, with Colombo up front and Colpani providing assists….
Throw in Ricci DM and Scalvini CB

    What a beautiful dream
