AC Milan and Alvaro Morata parted ways in January, despite the Spaniard only arriving six months prior. It is a deal which was questioned from start to finish, certainly.
There has been a lot said about Morata’s time at Milan, and there could be more said in the future with his deal only a loan agreement, rather than the permanent option like the Rossoneri had probably hoped for.
Nevertheless, the Spaniard’s wages are no longer on the book, and this allowed a greater level of manoeuvrability in the mercato, which came in handy on a busy deadline day.
The striker’s presence will not be felt due to the arrival of Santiago Gimenez, who was initially linked at the same time as Morata – though the club opted to go in a different direction.
Speaking for the first time since the move today, the striker admitted that the deal took a lot to complete, and his words have been relayed by Footboom.
“I am truly excited. It took a lot of effort to bring me here. For the first time, the club came to Milan to meet with me, and I want to sincerely thank President Abdülkadir Bey and Giorgio Gardi for making this happen. It was a complicated operation, but it has become a reality.
“I take pride in being here: Galatasaray is probably the only reason I decided to come to Turkey. I can’t wait to wear this jersey and bring moments of joy to the fans. I am here to give my all.
“I can’t wait to step on the pitch and contribute to the success of the team.”
Best of luck and I do mean it. I mean make them redeem your contract lol
I pray so too bro.
Yes, good luck to Alvaro. Hopefully Galatasaray is the place you will find happiness at.
This has been a very strange affair.
We bring in the starting CF/captain from the national team that just won the European championship. A CF used to holding up the ball and playing in fast and skilled wingers.
This should have worked.
But he is gone just 6 months later!
Clubs doesn’t typically to move a player on after 6 months. And we almost moved Royal as well if not for injury.
I’m not complaining.
Just noting how bizarre this episode has been.
He probably wasn’t happy. And we are also in a very strenuous position. CL qualification is critical. Morata missed way too many chances for us. It just didn’t work out and it’s better to cut your losses sooner rather than pay the price later.
A weak and fragile mentality is his biggest problem. He cries when people boo at him. I mean he is not the only player out there who got boo’ed at. But he is the one and only player that actually cries when people boo at him. Definitely not a leader.
Clearly morata did not deliver at milan. We need a striker who can score 15/18/20 goals in a season and morata was unable to do this. Hopefully gimenez will.
Also as in any work situation – a new boss wants people and employees around who are loyal to him and not all “old” employees accept willingly new bosses ….. so off with their heads and get new and loyal ones.
It is strange that we went for virtually the same type of striker and we always took the best one available at the time of this type: experienced, can play lone strikers passing to the 3 guys around him while keeping defenders busy. Only ones that worked out were Giroud and Ibra. Mandzukic was passed it big time but both Origi and Morata were a complete flop. We should have gone for Lewandowski straight after Giroud. He is struggling playing with kids at Barca and needing to dribble. He was perfect at 33 to replace Giroud.
