Morata hints at future abroad amid Milan links: “In Spain there is no respect”

Alvaro Morata has given yet another interview with the Spanish media in which he has made it clear that he could leave Spain amid links with a move to AC Milan.

There have been a lot of headlines around Morata in recent days as he continues to give conflicting public statements about his intentions for the future, with the most recent ones coming yesterday when he failed to rule out a move.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is working hard to convince the Spaniard as per multiple reports and it remains to be seen what the final answer will be. Having missed out on Joshua Zirkzee, now set to join Manchester United, the Rossoneri need to secure a striker soon.

It seems they have turned to the former Juventus man because of his experience and the fact that he knows the league well, but it must be said that it would likely be a signing that garners a mixed reaction.

Interviewed by El Mundo, Morata gave a rather honest assessment of what he likes about living in Spain and what he doesn’t like as much, with his comments relayed by Radio Rossonera.

Could you retire from international football after the European Championship?

“It could be, it’s a possibility I don’t want to talk about too much, but it’s probable.”

Have you had any difficulties in Spain?

“Young, handsome, with money, a wonderful wife and beautiful children… What can I complain about? Yes, I know, I know. Many times I am happy, but other times it is difficult for me.

“It is my personality, I am like this, it is hard for me… When I return home I am always super happy, but in front of people I feel naked and perhaps this did not allow me to give everything I had.”

Are you happier abroad?

“Yes, definitely. I’ve said it many times. Especially because people respect me. In Spain there is no respect for anything or anyone.”

Could you stay in Spain?

“Attacked out of envy? Yes, I think so too, it could be. But it’s not pleasant. That’s why I continue to think, even though I’m focused on the Euros, that I don’t know if it’s the best thing for me to stay in Spain.”

You said you’d like to stay at Atletico Madrid a few days ago…

“I said I’m dying to win titles with Atletico, then you have to evaluate what’s worth it and what’s not.”

  1. Is he gonna get a second wind? We do have more luck with older strikers. If he does come he better score against juve

    1. Morata has a habit of missing sitters and gains superpower of invisibility during the games so he’ll be criticized wherever he goes.

  2. Preferensi icardi, but he loved by his Turkey club but hated by his nation public that’s why he isn’t in his national team rn.

  3. Morata and Jonathan David is actually an amazing deal if they will sign a latter. Morata has 13M clause while J.David is in his final contract 25-27M can be a deal. The Canadian is also in Copa America atm, so lack of transfer could be explained with that and also he literally was Fonseca’s player for 2 seasons…

    Morata + J.David > Zirkzee, just saying….

    1. Honestly I’d say even Morata alone is better than Zirkzee. I don’t understand people salivating for a prospect who scored 12 goals and didn’t make it to the NT, but seem to hate a more experienced striker, who won the UCL, scored MORE goals than Zirkzee and who is captain of an arguably better NT.
But I refrain from commenting too much because we’re not even sure we’ll get Morata.

    2. David’s going to England and Morata and Jovic won’t sign on to be 2nd and 3rd choices, they’ll expect to be 1st and 2nd choice respectively
