Casa Pia winger Nuno Moreira has claimed that his former team-mate Rafael Leao was always destined for big things.
Having been born in Espinho, in the Aveiro District, Moreira spent his entire youth career at Sporting CP, working his way through the ranks with some notable talents. Among then was Leao, who is now a star at Milan having ended up in Italy via Lille.
Renowned as one of the best academies in the world, Moreira and Leao worked their way through at the same complex that saw Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani also break out. Among the players that he grew alongside, it is Leao that stood out more than most.
Moreira gave an interview to RG in which he spoke about a number of topics, and he was asked what it was like to play with Leao at Sporting.
“I played many years with Leão, and even at that time, he was far superior to the other players. He did different things. I had no doubts that he was going to reach the level he’s at now, and I think he can become even better than he is now.”
