Moretto: 20 days of negotiating for nothing – how Milan lost Thuram to Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan were in negotiations with Marcus Thuram for nearly three weeks and did not manage to close his arrival, leaving the door open for Inter.

It seemed yesterday as though Thuram was heading for Milan, as Philipp Hinze of Sky Germany reported that the striker had turned down RB Leipzig and PSG were out of the race too, leaving the Rossoneri with a clear path.

However, Matteo Moretto of Relevo has confirmed that he now seems to be heading for rivals Inter instead in what was a dramatic 24-hour turnaround, and he provided some background on events.

Inter overtook Milan in the race yesterday. The Rossoneri were waiting for Thuram’s response last night and believed they had done everything they could to convince him.

However, Inter’s interest then became an official proposal to the player and thus the decision became one between two projects for the 25-year-old.

Up until noon on Friday Milan were convinced they would close the operation and the player even communicated to friends that the Diavolo were his preference. However, Inter were quick and convincing.

Moretto added in another tweet that the management of Milan negotiated very intensively with Thuram for 20 days without getting the signature.

  1. Seems ACM management are in total panic….So many names popping up, also many rejections……total chaos.
The funny part will be when RedBird doesn’t use a penny from Tonali’s sacrifice…..

Forza MILAN

  3. Off of the top of my head.
Farinos, Zlatan, Suazo, Kondogbia , Sensi, now Thuram,
All players that inter stole from under Milan nose.
Outside of Zlatan the others made the wrong decision

  4. LOL, It’s actually dodging a bullet, as inter in perilous financial situation is giving him a 6.5m/year salary, it’s too much for thuram. i don’t know how will he perform later but right now, this looks like an overcook done by inter. we might get something better, it might be a blessing in disguise? or is it a rub of salt to our wounds?

    1. nah man.. Inter has lukaku with a big ašš salary. so he goes and thuram comes and plays for less. plus dzeko is going who also had a big ašš salary..
Its a good deal for shinter

  6. It’s not even July yet but some fans already have panic attack lol

Stop opening this website every fifteen minutes, go chill outside, touch some grass

    1. Touch the grass?????
Have you been smoking the grass baby?

Milan don’t have the buying power most other players have in the game called transfer market so “the early bird catches the worm”
RED BIRD maybe, but in the Thuram game they have leg on their face and Pioli talked to this player?

Pioli is not very good at this negotiation with players is he?

  7. Total chaos. This redco*ck management didn’t learn from history how our top players such mike or theo joined the club few years ago.
