Journalist gives update on Asensio, Botman, Origi, Renato Sanches and Brahim Diaz

Journalist Matteo Moretto has spoken about a number of different topics related to AC Milan’s summer transfer window, including the pursuits of Marco Asensio and Sven Botman.

Moretto spoke to Radio Rossonera and began by talking about Asensio, who is 26 and has a contract expiring in 2023. The playmaker ‘must think about his future’ and ‘whether to be a protagonist in a club like Milan’, with the examples of Theo Hernandez and Brahim Diaz worth looking at for playing time.

Paolo Maldini has ‘contacted the entourage of Asensio more than once’ as per Moretto and the player knows of the Rossoneri’s interest, but it is too early to say either way whether it will go through. The Spaniard has the possibility to choose a project like that of Milan, which will involve playing in the Champions League, competing for the title and having a starting role.

Regarding Botman, the parties are ‘very close’ and the player’s will to join Milan making the difference. Newcastle recently made a higher offer to sign Divock Origi from Liverpool but the player ‘has made it known that he is waiting for Milan’. Except for twists, he will arrive too.

Then, there is ‘a lot of competition’ to sign Renato Sanches, and Jorge Mendes is offering the 24-year-old to more teams, but Renato was already very close to Milan in January. Unless the Rossoneri pull back and go for another target then he should join.

Finally, on Brahim Diaz, he added that ‘there is an agreement between clubs’ and that the loan is a dry one, renewable for another year. Real Madrid ‘do not have Brahim’s return among their priorities and he is happy in Milan’ so he is ‘99%’ going to stay.
