There is a chance that AC Milan will lose their goalkeeper and captain, Mike Maignan, next summer, so they need to start assessing options.
Maignan’s situation is not yet done, for better or for worse. At this point, whether either would be a good thing can be debated, and unfortunately, finding a ‘correct’ answer is impossible right now. In a year, that decision to keep him could look poor if performances are shaky.

Alternatively, they could lose the best Maignan to wear the Milan shirt. It is a risk either way, but talks are going to occur over the next few months, it seems.
The Suzuki idea
Already, ideas are emerging about possible replacements, and with the Rossoneri unlikely to get a fee for the Frenchman, barring a January exit, the investment could be limited, unfortunately. However, some good options could be moved for.
Today, Matteo Moretto took stock of the situation, as relayed by PianetaMilan.
“There was a moment in the transfer window when Milan were scouting for goalkeepers, with Maignan potentially going to Chelsea. Milan and Napoli had Parma’s Suzuki on their list. Conte is crazy about him. Parma always wanted to keep the price high, between €30 and €40 million. Suzuki wasn’t pushing for a sale, and Milan didn’t change their goalkeeper.”

I am sure our fanbase arent worried since the “goalkeeper is the easiest position to get a replacement” seems to be the general consensus here. I hope you guys are proven right.
This would be a great replacement – I imagine we will need to make one, so we need to be doing the work early, as was the case when Mike replaced Donnarumma.
Just put faith in Torriani if Mike leaves. He’s looked great every time we have needed him

Hopefully one year from now Torriani will bulk up a little (he is a great goalkeeper but still with a juvenile body, very thin; could use some pounds) and we’ll have a great in-house option for free. If we still can’t trust such a young goalkeeper (I would; he always looks calm and composed beyond his years), I’m not that worried. I think that Mike is a good goalkeeper but no longer qualifies as one of the best in the world, when you think of the goals he concedes in the near post. Last season stats showed that Mike was actually one of the worst goalkeepers in Serie A. We should be able to get a suitable replacement. And while he’s been healthy lately, Mike actually is injury-prone and has missed many games in previous seasons.
If he wants to renew, fine, as his dip of form last season does seem to be a bit better, now. If he doesn’t want to renew, let’s not construe this as AC Milan’s fault. There is little that can be done if a player in end of contract wants out and doesn’t want to renew.
People chew up the managers when someone leaves on a free transfer but it’s not always possible to avoid it. We got rid of a lot of dead weight this season and for good money, so if we lose one player on a free transfer one year from now, it’s not the end of the world.

I don’t need either here tbh. I’d like to build from within. Mike makes mistakes yes but hes still one of the best keepers in the game when on form so id keep him over Suzuki.
Chelsea offered 15mil for French 1st goalkeeper, while we paid for 40++ for their ‘deadwood’. And now they have opportunity to sign Mike for free. Good deal everyone, great job.
If you fail to see the difference in transfer fees comparing a player with 1 year left on his contract vs someone with more years left I don’t think anyone here can educate you to understand it.
