“Will also be some departures” – Moretto confirms Milan are looking to sell midfield pair

AC Milan will make some changes to the midfield department and this will involve some outgoings, Matteo Moretto has confirmed.

A lot of the talk about movement in the middle of the part concerns signings. Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka is the name strongest linked, but in the past couple of days other profiles such as Ismael Kone and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa have emerged.

Two on the way out

Matteo Moretto gave an update on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel (via MilanNews) about how things stand regarding Milan’s midfield heading into the summer window.

He began by stating that Milan will have some midfield additions, but there ‘will also be some departures’. Among the names that could leave is Youssouf Fofana: Milan will listen to offers for the Frenchman and will also listen to offers for Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The Englishman’s contract expires in 2027, and though he has been used in various roles by Massimiliano Allegri this season he has a market in England. This remains the most likely destination, if the Rossoneri are satisfied with the price.

The former Chelsea man ‘hasn’t entirely convinced’ the management, ‘especially in terms of temperament and consistency of performance’. Therefore, the club will look for a solution for Loftus-Cheek, who could depart along with Fofana.

  1. I understand RLC but Fofana is a current starter.

A club doesn’t go from starting a player to selling them.

Upgrade sure but that means the former starter drops back to the bench with all of the experience he built up as a starter.

Otherwise you have two (or whatever) new players trying to build a connection.

  2. What starter ? Fogana is one of d reason we don’t win . His goal sense is almost zero.. He can be ok in 4231 formation but not in 352.
