Moretto: ‘Exits are needed’ for Milan to proceed with pursuit of Samardzic

Lazar Samardzic was heavily linked with a move to AC Milan a few weeks back but the rumours have certainly cooled down. According to a report, the Rossoneri need to complete a few sales before they can focus on the Serbian again.

With Paulo Fonseca looking to use Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the midfield tandem, rather than the No.10 position, Milan could sign a new attacking midfielder this summer. Christian Pulisic is the expected starter and Mattia Liberali is also a shout, but depth is never negative.

As such, the rumours linking Samardzic to Milan were far from surprising, also because the 22-year-old is at an appropriate age for the big leap. According to Matteo Moretto, the interest is concrete but ‘exits are needed’ for the Rossoneri to proceed with the pursuit.

It’s believed that Udinese value the player at €25m while Milan would like to spend around €20m, potentially even less with the inclusion of counterparts. As for the exits, Yacine Adli is one of the likely candidates and the Rossoneri also need to solve the Divock Origi dilemma.

We can only wait and see if Milan will pick up the negotiations with Udinese down the line, but for not the talks are at a stalemate.

    1. You know that would be something like Adli+15M or Adli+Origi+20M

We would give Origi for free to anyone that would take on his wage, but it’s more likely we’ll need to pay up his contract.

  1. It’s a pity this deal’s on hold thanks to previous dud purchases. Now trying to sell Pobega, Toure and Origi is like asking a man in the desert if he wants to buy some sand.

    1. Lol so true.

Also means we shouldn’t be critical if the management accepts bids for say, Alexis or Thiaw. As anyone can become surplus to requirements (if they’re not your superstars like Leao /Theo) and difficult to even get to leave the club.

It’s also why I’m advocating for only a loan for Tammy. He could be really good but if he isn’t, he’ll be our next Origi, not like clubs are queueing up for him.

  2. We don’t need him. We have Liberali. Play him in some matches in the last 15-20 minutes. Sometimes a full half time of 45 minutes. He will grow exponentially and he will be much better than Samardzic.
