It is clear that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a certain level of authority at AC Milan and Matteo Moretto has looked at it after the restructuring.
There has been plenty said about Ibrahimovic since his return to the club in 2024. Unfortunately, most of it has been negative as there is little known about his actual role. From the outside, it would seem that he is somewhat of an internal high-ranking figure.

As fans, you would contest that. Officially, maybe ‘officially’, he is a consultant hired by RedBird to aid with Milan. However, it would seem that he holds the power to contest Gerry Cardinale to make decisions.
Indeed, his power seems to stretch above that of a presumed consultant. It is a difficult one and his role needs to be defined as the questions are only growing larger.
Moretto’s look at Ibrahimovic
Taking a look at the new structure, Matteo Moretto commented on his doubts about Ibra’s future with the Rossoneri moving forward, as MilanNews relays.
“When Cardinale decided to overhaul the organisational structure, Milan had a plan: to appoint a Head of Football and a Sporting Director.
“The aim was to create a lean and agile structure to try to include competent and successful players within this new organisational structure, drawing from several clubs, especially foreign ones. Many professionals were contacted from Spain, Germany, England, France… Many Zoom calls were held.
“In the end, Milan decided, on June 21st, to define an internal corporate structure, not by strengthening it with new additions, but by creating this type of structure by reshuffling the cards internally.
“Bobby Gardiner has been working at Milan for years, Almstadt was there years ago and has always gravitated towards the Milan world. They are all names that are very well known at Casa Milan.
“I can say that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will remain as a Senior Advisor, we are told that he will be an external consultant, but you know that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s character and personality always tend to have a certain… influence.
“Whether it’s an external consultant, yes, or whether there’s a strategic team behind Cardinale, with Gardiner and Almstadt, absolutely, yes, but Zlatan remains an important figure within the AC Milan world.”

At this point it seems that they are just trying to settle the ship rather than improve. Wait for the right offer and sell.
I have a feeling Milan may already have an agreement in principle with Markus Krösche to become Head of Football next season.
It would also explain why the club hasn’t rushed to permanently fill some of the other executive positions. If Krösche is expected to take charge of the football structure, it would make sense to wait and allow him to help shape the organization according to his own vision.
Of course, this is just my theory, but it would explain some of the decisions Milan has made recently. Rather than making short-term appointments, they may be planning for a larger restructuring once Krösche becomes available.
I feel like I’ve read this exact thing 12 times in the last month. Maybe Moretto could get an actual source instead of just being confused all the time.
