Milan Futuro star Hugo Cuenca is expected to leave the club on a free transfer, according to a report, and the Paraguayan international has an ideal destination in mind.
Cuenca joined Milan’s Primavera in 2022 for around €400k and the expectations were quite high. 67 games, 8 goals and 7 assists later, the 20-year-old could say goodbye as his contract with the club will expire in the summer.
In a tweet, which has since been deleted (see photo below), Matteo Moretto stated that it’s ‘99%’ certain that the right-winger won’t renew his contract with Milan. He would prefer a move to Spain and rumours suggesting he could be used as a counterpart by the Rossoneri are thus not true.
Of course, it’s never ideal to lose your talents on free transfers but it does happen relatively frequently even for other clubs. It should also be mentioned that Cuenca’s spell at Milan has been characterised by ups and downs, including injuries that haven’t made life easy.
It remains to be seen if Milan will make an attempt to renew the contract but based on the report, the winger will depart. Cuenca has been on the sidelines since October as well due to an injury, so perhaps the Rossoneri aren’t keen on renewing.

Guess he will have no “Future” with us.
He’s a below average player. It would be pointless, this isn’t the days when we kept these bums in the Primavera till they’re 23, like that goat sodomizer and general waste of resources Hachim Mastour. There’s a big difference between the professionals and the amateurs.
Mastour left us when he was 20 years old and what is the point of a Futuro u23 team if we doesn’t keep them beyond their teenage years ? As I mentioned below when we got him Barca also tried to sign him but he chose us.
“goat sodomizer”? You primitive, racist POS.
You of all ppl should definitely know you idiot donkey since you are the racist trash who said we shouldn’t sign black French players….what a fkn a$$ 🤡
No, I said Moncada has an obsession with French black players. I said we need more Italians in the team. I didn’t say they had to be white.
Not really a surprise to me but nevertheless a shame, better to let him go now if we or he doesn’t plan to renew and then retain a 15-20% resale or something as he has shown some promise and when he joined us Barca was also sniffing around for a deal but he chose us instead.
I remember we went above and beyond to get him signed with work permits etc. Had big hopes for him shame he’s not moved on enough but guess the injuries have heavily impacted the continuity he needs at this age
Yeah I do too but he has only turned 20 years old this month so I see no reason for not keeping him in the Futuro as he still has a lot of time ahead of him.
Has it occurred to you that maybe Cuenca WANTS to breath fresh air? What the club wants may be irrelevant here.
Yes Vero and also said further up the thread “better to let him go now if we or he doesn’t plan to renew and then retain a 15-20% resale or something “
