Moretto: Hernandez’s agent trying to ‘move things along’ amid major interest

By Euan Burns -

The agent of AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez is certainly open to seeing his client leave the club this summer and is trying to accelerate the process which is currently at a standstill.

As reported by Matteo Moretto for Fabrizio Romano’s daily briefing, the French defender is one of the major stories of the summer for the Rossoneri but there is no major move expected just yet.

There is serious interest in him from Bayern Munich but Moretto reports that until Alphonso Davies moves to Real Madrid, which may not even happen, Bayern aren’t going to act on that interest.

With Hernandez now at Euro 2024 with the France National Team, there will be no progress on a new contract with Milan. He currently earns €5m per season and would like to see that increase given his importance to the team.

With two years left on his contract, it is a situation that Milan must resolve. As Moretto explains, the agent of Hernandez ‘is trying to move things along a bit’ with Premier League clubs also showing interest.

The concern for Milan will be that the agent finds a proposal from elsewhere that is more appealing to Hernandez and then the contract talks get more complicated.

  1. Whoever watched the game last night , it is clear we have the best LB in the world, letting him go would be disastrous as no one else could replace him no matter how much money we got, it’s already a downgrade

        1. Man come on.. The club have green numbers in their account and can still fix those holes without selling Theo. So can you please tell me who they’re going to replace the hole on left side, if Theo are gone?

          1. “Man come on.. The club have green numbers in their account and can still fix those holes without selling Theo.”

Sure they can. But saying things like “But according most guys here, we can build a new team with the money coming from Theo-sale.” were more off than my comeback for a claim such as that.

I don’t think I’ve seen any comment here saying we could build a new team from Theo money. Heck, I don’t think I’ve even seen comments where people are saying we actually should sell him in the first place.

        2. So get money to fix other holes but leave the largest gaping hole in the team by selling him in the first place?
Btw, other holes are striker and two DMs in terms of actual need. We are legit covered everywhere else.

      1. I actually don’t think that’s the common sentiment. I think most Milan fans would be heartbroken if he left given his importance and general person.

I know I would. I think when he arrived he brought something new to the team that could be seen almost instantly. And after he started getting starts he never looked back and neither did Milan. We’ve tried a vouple of crappy substitutes but nothing has come near his caliber. Finding someone of his class again is pretty much impossible. If we can’t find someone young to bring up. But nah, I’ve only seen one player like Theo in my years as a football fan and that is Theo.

  2. Theo is only one really unsellable at this club. His probably top 3 in the world. Rafa is top 10-15 and is valued much higher on the market. if someone pays 150 for him we can replace him, there are guys like kvara, chiesa(not same quality as Leao but really good and costs only 30-40) we can go for and we have enough money to upgrade other weak spots(can get Scalvini, Buongiorno duo), but if someone pays 80 for Theo you can’t find a replacement with similar quality.

  3. The best players in the team need to be rewarded with contracts that they deserve. I don’t understand why Milan always do this with our best players. Thats why we lost Donnarumma (which wasn’t bad since we got an upgrade), Kessie (Presidente) and Calhanoglu. And I think it will be unfair to Theo, Maignan and we the fans if the club don’t give them what they want to renew. If Leao got his wish, I think Theo should also get his. He is one of the best LBs, if not the best in the world.
If Milan wants to compete for trophies, we need to keep our best palyers. Even Arsenal has changed that mentality. We are a big club, not a production line for other clubs. They say we don’t need to sell any of our top players, but they don’t want to give them what they deserve.
This needs to stop or else they will all leave for free just like Donnaruma, Kessie and Calhanoglu.
