Rafael Leao continues to be one of the most talked about names when it comes to AC Milan players, and the latest round of rumours suggests that he is a target for Paris Saint-Germain.
Yesterday various reports claimed that PSG are interested in Leao ahead of the summer, stating that he would be seen as the ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappé who is leaving on a free transfer.
Relevo journalist and mercato expert Matteo Moretto (via Radio Rossonera) commented on the story on the La Fiera del Calcio Twitch channel and he confirmed the interest on the part of the Parisians.
He stated that Leao is ‘one of the first targets on Paris Saint-Germain’s list for the summer’ because they are expected to have to deal with the departure of Mbappé, leaving a big gap on the wing.
One of the profiles they are ‘investigating most carefully’ is Leao, who ‘knows perfectly well that PSG want him’. As for Milan, they will point to his release clause of €175m as the starting price.
However, a bid of €110-120m could be enough to at least bring Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada to the negotiating table Moretto suggests.
“There are no negotiations underway at the moment, but yesterday I broke the news because I know that PSG are very attentive about Leao,” he said.
It is bad decision to sell Leao for 100. Milan managed to sell Tonali for 65, and Chelsea paid much more for Enzo and Caicedo who are not strikers and wingers.
Leao is strong name in football that’s why investing 100 million for Leao will be low price for Psg. When Milan sell, you can’t buy speed winger like him anymore.
Leao stopped scoring this season, but when he gets a ball at least 3 players around him.
So selling below 170 million is fluke for Milan. When he reach 27 years old, he can easily be sold for 70 or 80 million and capital gain – again.
Even though the perception is that PSG just throws large amounts of money around, they have only twice went over 100 mil(Mbappe & Naymar) and only one other time spent over 70 mil(Kolo Muani).
Neymar & Mbappe price was that high not only because of their football abilities but also their brands of being a global rock stars. Leao is not.
Anyone believing that they will pay 175 mil for Leao is lying to themselves. You should be happy if you get half of that.
The comment above says Leao is a strong name in football. Nope, he is a strong name in Italy. Outside of serie A, Leao has 4 total goals in European competitions and another 3 goals for his national team where he isn’t even a starter, and his competition is another overrated player like Joao Felix.
You can’t buy speedy winger like him anymore?
That’s a joke. Speedy wingers are a dime a dozen in today’s football.
Selling him for 170 mil is a fluke?
If someone offers you that much money for Leao you should throw a parade around Milan like you just won the scudetto.
The man hasn’t scored a goal in serie A since the middle of last year but people believe that you will get over 100 mil for Leao. No one offered that much when he had better seasons, why would they do it now?
100 mil we sell him
People are dumb. And they think release clause = actual value.
If they want him so much the least between Newcastle and psg it’s gonna be 150m Or pay the release clause then 175m pay up
Don’t sell leao only because he struggles this season he needs some time to score goals to get his form back selling leao is the worst decision we could make he got no replacement
Makes 0 sense to sell Leao after they paid that fine for Lille and got him to sign an extension, making him “the center” of the project.
And P$$$G is stupid. They dont even need to buy anyone if Mbappe leaves with all their attacking potential. That Barcola will surpass Leao in a year or two and Dembele and Asensio are already better than him
As to the first part of your comment, it makes zero sense. Saying someone is “the center” of the project is only as good as the next big offer or poor performance. In this case, Milan might have both a good offer (anything over 100m) and a player who is not performing at the level of a 7.5m per year player. If anything is “the center” of the project, it’s the coach and the system that coach brings. Since we’ve seen a steady drumbeat of Conte to Milan news, it makes sense that were a major piece to be sold this summer to fund Conte players, that it would be Leao, who plays in a role that Conte doesn’t use.
Yes I read about Conte. His salary would be covered by Leao sale. And his formation with 2 strikers would not benefit Leao. Only 3 4 3 can see Leao on left wing.
But still we will see, if they sell Leao that will be different team if they keep him someone else Is leaving, besides Origi, De Ketelaere, and Saelemakers.
Why can’t Leao play a SS in contes system? You people really underestimate how flexible conte can be to get a team on track.
In a tandem and a more counter attacking system is like a jackpot for a player like leao.. like if chiesa can play a ss for alegri of all people so could leao play one
