AC Milan are not in talks over a deal to sign Alex Grimaldo from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, according to Matteo Moretto.
The wing-back area is one where Milan might do some work ahead of 2026-27, with Pervis Estupinan having arrived from Brighton last summer but having so far failed to live up to expectations.

He lost his starting spot to Davide Bartesaghi after a period out spent on the sidelines due to injury and he has never reclaimed it, despite moments such as the Derby della Madonnina winner.
The Ecuadorian could depart after just one season and a new left-sided player could arrive. Grimaldo was linked by sources in Spain in the past few days, and it is easy to understand why.
Since joining Bayer Leverkusen, the 30-year-old has racked up 74 goal contributions in 141 games for the German club, with 30 goals and 44 assists. So, he guarantees end product and could offer something a bit different to the young Bartesaghi, while also having Champions League experience.
Grimaldo not a target
Matteo Moretto provided an update on the rumours linking Grimaldo with a move to Milan via a video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel (via X) and he poured cold water on things.
“Grimaldo has been linked to Milan, but as of today, I’m not aware of any calls or contacts between Milan and his entourage. Grimaldo’s priority would be to return to Spain, with several top Spanish clubs keeping tabs on him,” he said.

Matteo Demantto 😀
For the right price, it’s good. Bartesaghi is the clear #1, young with tons of room to go. But, next season (any season to be fair), there are tons of games and we cant expect to have anyone to play every game or to have 0 competition. Bring him on. Estupinian did not work out, too bad, see u later. Hope he has a good WC with Ecuador. We could at least break even
Bartesaghi is clear #1 when he’s competing with Estupinan for a starting positions. With a better winger, he warms the bench.
