Moretto: Mendes pushing for Leao’s sale amid expiring mandate – the situation

The delicate situation continues for Rafael Leao at AC Milan and according to a report, it’s heavily influenced by the inclusion of Jorge Mendes. Despite not being the winger’s agent, he’s pushing for a transfer.

Leao is expected to be benched for the third consecutive time – in the league – this evening as Milan are up against Monza away from home. Paulo Fonseca currently prefers Noah Okafor as the No.10 has been unable to guarantee the defensive effort needed.

According to Matteo Moretto, the situation is rather delicate for Leao as the relationship with Fonseca is yet to blossom. Furthermore, due to a mandate added in the contract renewal, the super agent Jorge Mendes has the mandate to negotiate his sale up until (and including) January.

Given that the mandate is about to expire, as well as the fact that a sale isn’t completely far-fetched at this point, Mendes is pushing heavily for a transfer. Barcelona have been mentioned a lot in the Spanish press but as Moretto highlights, their financial situation is far from great.

Mendes has called Milan several times and the Rossoneri are aware of his intentions, but have instead chosen to speak to Leao’s actual entourage. Furthermore, the price tag will not be low despite recent events as the winger has a long contract and undeniable potential.

In any case, as the report concludes, Lea’s future is yet to be decided and there are no concrete options on the table for now.
