Moretto: Milan have Deportivo Alaves defender on list of targets

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking at potential full-back targets in view of the summer transfer window and they have their eyes on Deportivo Alaves’ Javi Lopez, it is claimed.

There are some doubts that Milan have in their squad at present in the left-back role, but the started is of course Theo Hernandez who is one of the leaders within the team.

Milan have struggled to find a reliable deputy to the Frenchman though, with Fode Ballo-Toure not up to the task, Davide Bartesaghi still young, Alessandro Florenzi not a natural left-back and Alex Jimenez only on loan.

According to what is being reported by Relevo journalist Matteo Moretto, the management have got Javi Lopez of Deportivo Alaves circled on their list of targets, but more for the summer rather than this month.

The 21-year-old Spaniard has a contract running until the summer of 2025 and this season he has three assists in 19 LaLiga games to his name.

He joined Alaves in July 2017 from Tenerife’s youth academy before coming up the ranks there and making his first team debut in 2020.

Lopez played 20 times for Spain’s U17 national team and once for the U18s. He has been called up for the U21s but is yet to make his debut.
