Paulo Fonseca has come under heavy scrutiny in recent weeks as AC Milan have been unable to turn things around. According to Matteo Moretto, there is a clause in his contract which would allow a ‘smooth’ departure.
Fonseca signed a contract with Milan in the summer until 2027, with the official statement labelling it a three-year agreement. However, according to Matteo Moretto, it’s actually a 2+1 agreement and that means the third year is optional.
In recent weeks, amid rumours of a sacking, there has also been talk about how much it would cost Milan. This is because the managers normally remain under contract even after being sacked, thus costing the club money.
As clarified by Moretto, though, Milan inserted a rather favourable clause in the contract that Fonseca signed in the summer. Indeed, they have the option to pay a fee – similar to a severance package – to terminate all ties with the manager immediately.
“I knew that in case of defeat [vs. Verona], he would have been in deep waters. As news I can add a detail regarding Fonseca’s contract: there is a right of withdrawal within the agreement signed in the summer [2+1]. That is, if Milan pay a sum, which varies from year to year, they can definitively end its relationship with the coach, who would therefore no longer remain under contract,” he wrote.
An empty victory that cost us leao and our 2 overworked midfielders (the only 2 fit) did 90+min again.
Why the F do we get so many injuries in nov and Dec?
This has been going on for years now. Foking years
The teams problame is Zlatan not p. Foseco

We turned things around? When did that happen. Because as far as I see we’re still in 7th…matter of fact 8th if Bologna wins their game.
” This is because the managers normally remain under contract even after being sacked, thus costing the club money.” Any club can severe ties with any player or manager, at any moment, by paying his contract out. The reason why clubs leave coached to remain under contract is because it is easier to pay monthly than pay the full amount up-front. What a stupid post and article, unbelievable what you write as articles…
It should say ‘unable’ to turn things around of course, but I’m not sure I understand what is wrong with the part about managers remaining on the wage bill? The whole point of the article is that Fonseca can be bought out for a smaller fee than what his contract otherwise would stipulate.
Obviously wasn’t sending it as a reply. Yes, barely beating Verona is now a great result for Milan. Remember, Parma beat us, so it is an improvement. 😀
Even if we won 10-0 we would still be in 7th place. You Milan ‘fans’ can’t stop complaining, just accept the fact that we are in 7th and that we can string 2 clean sheets together. That’s an improvement compared to the 5-2 and 5-1
It’s like; they know they are doing something wrong, but they are still doing.
Just to pay less and less money. It will be interesting to see what kind of politics are they going to have, from first of July 2025, and season without European revenue.

Ain’t there are always clauses like that in any contract? Ain’t that what a contract means?
Fonsy isn’t going anywhere this season.
Sack him even costs a 100mil. he every day put our club at steps behind, and make big damage for reputation. If we still big club we need sack him after we draw against Roma.
Yes we will draw,we cant win with him.He dont know how motivated players and put them at right position.
Sack him before we lose reputation.
