Moretto: Milan exploring swap deal involving Messias for Serie A right-back target

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan seem to be pushing for the signing of a new right-back and they could include a winger as a counterpart in one particular negotiation, a report claims.

The right-back role is an interesting one for Milan because it seems that captain Davide Calabria has a pretty solid spot in the starting line-up, but his back-ups have not offered the certainties Stefano Pioli would have liked.

Alessandro Florenzi has had three lengthy injury problems in the two seasons he has been a Milan player, while Sergino Dest has returned to Barcelona after a disappointing one-year loan spell in which he failed to adequately provide emergency cover.

That means that the management are looking at potential options for that role, and according to Matteo Moretto of Relevo, work is being done to try and sign Wilfried Singo from Torino.

At the moment it seems as though the Ivorian is a back-up plan for Real Valladolid’s Iván Fresneda who is also sought by Barcelona. However, he adds that Junior Messias could enter the operation with Torino and go the other way.

  1. I love how an international is not good enough to be our cover right back.

To every window, churn, churn, churn
There is a season (churn, churn, churn)
And a time to every transfer, under heaven

    1. Hhhhhhhhhh True talk this cadinale is an idiot that’s all I can say. How on earth he manage to get to Milan with his non charlante attitude?

  2. Calabria is not good enough for top European level. Lacks pace and areal strength. Singo has both. For me Calabria should be the backup – his milanista heart notwithstanding.

    1. Right, we need to sell him, he can’t play for AC No Milan,
Just released he is born and raised in Italy and immediately disqualified him to play for AC NO MILAN
Would you like to bring someone from Pakistan, I am sure we can find someone for $150.
      Let me know

    2. Yes we’d never win a title or make it to the seem-finals of the champions league with him at right back.

      Let’s sack the captain.

With fans like you who needs enemies.

    3. “Calabria is not good enough for top European level. Lacks pace and areal strength. Singo has both. ”

Yet Calabria is one of toughest defenders to pass by and beats Singo 100-0 in defending. Surely a defender with more pace & strength should do better, eh? 🙂

  3. Question is if Singo would be replacing Dest or Kalulu. He could surely be used as an emergency CB.

In theory selling Kalulu for 30m+ and using some of that money + Messias to get Singo would be great business, but we should also improve the squad not only the balance sheet.
