Moretto: Milan given green light to sign Brown from Gent – what happens now

Archie Brown could be Milan’s third signing of the summer, as an agreement has been reached with the Belgian side Gent and the player.

It will be crucial for Milan to add a left-back to the squad as soon as possible, ideally before the pre-season tour starts, and Brown has ended up at the top of the list. However, that doesn’t mean the Rossoneri will proceed with the signing.

The interesting factor to consider here is that Fenerbahce are very keen on signing the player as well, prompting Milan to make a quicker decision on the matter.

All in Milan’s hands

According to the latest from Matteo Moretto, Brown’s future will be decided in the next few hours. Milan and Fenerbahce remain in the race, having both reached an agreement with Gent at €8m, but the player would prefer a move to the Rossoneri.

The Turkish side are hoping that a richer contract offer will convince the left-back, while Milan are relying on his willingness to play at San Siro. As things stand, it’s up to the Rossoneri to proceed with the negotiations and formalise a total agreement.

In short, Tare is yet to make a final decision on whether the Englishman is the right signing for Milan. We will have the answer very soon, though, so there is no point in speculating over the potential outcome.

  1. He’s not expensive, he’s fast, and he looks good in attacking positions. I’m not sure about his defensive skills, but I’d consider him and save the money for midfield or striker positions.

    1. With this attitude Milan will soon become Torino or Sampdoria-level club.

Milan needs quality, proven good player, not another random from weak league. Especially if he has to fill Theo’s shoes. I’m shocked how low bar some people have to be happy with this signing…

      1. Theo’s shoes lmao, those shoes cost us over 10 points last season. You can keep those shoes and shove it

      2. A weak league with teams like Club Brugge that beat Atalanta 2-1 and 1-3 in Europe last season and drew with Juve. A weak league that brought forward players like Osimhen, De Bruyne, Courtois, Milinkovic-Savic, Kompany, Lukaku, … Yeah nothing to see there.

      1. Moncada has had more misses than hits. Not sure why you’re lashing out at him. Tiji and Chris are the only two solid pieces worth bragging about, among the likes of Fodo Ballo Toure and Emerson Royal…

      2. We finished 8th last season and paid actual money for Emerson. That automatically disqualifies you from claiming any success. Also, you notice they’re selling ALL the bums he recently brought in too? Stop being a Cardinale Cuck.

          1. You lot are clearly running out of excuses when Origi the free transfer is your only reason to bash previous management.

Somehow you conveniently forget 250 millions to sit in the middle of the table with no CL football.

          2. Um … About that roughly €100m on Dollar, Franc & The Snake …

LMAO The number of wind-up merchants around here would be amusing if anyone was good at it.

            I miss krunich heir.

          3. And you got that number from? Neverland? But ok I’ll go along with your imaginaation numbers. That still 150 millions short. Let’s take out Puli and Reijnders who at least showed something and play with 210 millions. That still 110 millions short.

            What’s next? Winning Supercoppa? Lmao

  2. It’s pretty comum to see the phrase “play at the San Siro” and “Fan of milan as a child” nowadays. For one side, it is good to see that the glory days were so good that are still makin impacts on the presente. But for other side, it’s a little bit scary. For the majority of our signings, we are basically beeing dependent of the glory of the past and the impact that the teams of the early 2000’s made in the player childhood. But when this generation gets old, what will wue have to motivates them to join us?

  3. Spot on, Ronaldinho… You know, of course its kinda silly to live in a ‘dreamland’, but sometimes I feel kinda depressed with our side current situation. I mean, aclub of Milan’s stature and dimension should be talkin’ of signing players like Lamine Yamal, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Nico Willians, Tchouameni, ok you get the drift, not the likes Jackson, Brown, Doue etc….

Damn it, it’s what you said: you are talking about AC MILAN, the stuff of legend, not fvckin’ Sampdoria, Como or Atalanta, with all due respect. J know know, times are different, Serie A is not anymore what it used to be and blah blah blah, but come, its always necessary to bear in mind what AC MILAN represents and stands for!

    1. I share your sentiment but a
      not your reality.

Serie A simply doesn’t produce revenue like the premier League, La Liga and the bundesliga. So we simply don’t have the capital to go after a 100 million player.

Frustratingly this does not have to keep us from competing. For the last couple of years, management has been abhorrent. The return to a sporting director and a pedigreed coach even in the face of no. UCL money is a good sign.

We we have money to spend wisely. Now it’s time to show that we have the wisdom to spend it.

      1. And the thing is that this has been always the reality. In the champions league winner team that we had, how many player were actually players that we bought when they were at their prime in other teams? Kaka was a yougster in São Paulo, Dida was also in the brazilian league when they got him. Only seedorf came with an actually name in the world. All the other player that are legends of the club actually made their name in ou colors

  4. Spot on, Ronaldinho… You know, of course its kinda silly to live in a ‘dreamland’, but sometimes I feel kinda depressed with our side current situation. 5. Guiza is also spot on… AC Milan in fact WAS the stuff of legend, but ist not anymore. Today is just a mediocre, run-to-the-mill club, and this is profoundly melancholic. What we really need is some kind of ‘Berlusconi 2.0 reloaded’, but nowadays this a mirage, at least in Italy, maybe in the whole continent.

  6. The fact is that in the present, if you hide the logo and the name of AC Milan, we are at the same level at those teams. We placed 8th in the league and the money that we have to spend on player even teams in the brazilian league can compete. I’m braziliam, Palmeiras signed Vitor roque from barcelona paying 30 million Euros and our money (real) current is worth 6 times less than the Euro. You got to take in consideration tha those player that are making the scene rigth migth have been born after Kaka Balon D’or. They haven’t seen maldini, pirlo, Shevchenko. They saw honda, Luiz adriano and boateng. We cannot continue to depend on the past because it wont work for so long.

  7. Yep, I’m from Brazil too, Guiza. Fact is that Milan’s expending power nowadays is not so different from the likes of Palmeiras, Botafogo or Flamengo, and this is frankly absurd.

  8. Archie Brown is not a revelation, folks. He’s a bench player for the likes of Theo… In any team that had both players, Brown would never see the field.

And this is who we’re trying to give the starting role to after Theo? Who’s genius scouting or idea was this?

    1. Its all about money saving. We can finish 8th, or 6th or 15th in the league all that matters to Cardinale & co is the finances are in the black.

Unfortunately we are just another business decision here, things like history, fans passion, trophies… are a side-show. We might accidentally win a cup here or there but genuinely becoming top quality at the pinnacle of European football is sadly a pipe dream.

Its not Allegris fault or even Tare, their hands are likely tied. They have to work within the parameters that are set.

Plus I hear Furlani is an embarrassment in negotiations. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tare quits within a year.

  9. I’m just thinking that this is transfer to Como or AC Milan? it seems that we swap with Como brand position. now it’s Como the big club and we only middle table team.

    1. however, Archie is really good player with great potential. but I think we need at least two players on this position if the club don’t believe our youth players like Davide Bartesaghi. so Firipo Junior is free agent who guarantee good level standards. and than Bartesaghi on loan.
      .
of course still AC Milan could reflect more that who is better for investment. Archie Brown, Miguel Guiterrez, Sergi Cardona or Davide Bartesaghi…?
