Moretto: Why Milan might have edge in Zirkzee race despite Arsenal and Man Utd links

Joshua Zirkzee is attracting the interest of a number of top teams around Europe including AC Milan, and they might just have an advantage in the race to sign him.

Milan will invest in a young striker in the summer and one of the names linked most insistently is Zirkzee, a Dutch striker who is impressing for Bologna.

He netted the opening goal in Saturday night’s game at San Siro between the Rossoneri and the Rossblu, something which could have been an audition of sorts.

Matteo Moretto spoke on the Twitch channel La Fiera del Calcio (via Radio Rossonera) to give his take on the Zirkzee situation, starting with the fact that he expects things to heat up in April.

Zirkzee is one of three profiles Milan have above all others in their hunt for a striker, while his sources claim there is a €40m release clause in his contract for all clubs and not only for Bayern Munich.

He does not think Bayern will try to re-sign him though, and while Zirkzee’s agent has very strong relationships with Arsenal, Manchester United and in general with England, the player would like to keep playing in Italy which perhaps gives the Rossoneri an edge.
