Moretto: Milan secure Milinkovic-Savic as a precaution amid Maignan-Chelsea deal

AC Milan have secured the services of Vanja Milinkovic-Savic as a precaution, with Mike Maignan seemingly close to Chelsea. However, as stated by Matteo Moretto, that doesn’t mean they will actually sign the Serbian.

Maignan is reportedly pushing for an exit after failing to reach an agreement on the contract renewal, feeling betrayed by the Milan management. As such, negotiations are underway and the coming days will be decisive for a potential deal.

According to Matteo Moretto, speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Milan have secured Vanja Milinkovic-Savic’s services as a precaution. They obviously know that the Maignan negotiations are at an advanced stage and as such, sporting director Igli Tare reached out to the goalkeeper’s agent.

The two have a great relationship, facilitating a potential deal, while there is also a €20m release clause in the goalkeeper’s Torino contract. This makes the 28-year-old the easiest solution for Milan if Maignan were to leave, but other goalkeepers are also being evaluated.

As Moretto explains, it will first be necessary to understand what will happen with Maignan, seeing as Milan requested a lot more than the €15m that has been put on the table. Then, we will also have to see if the Rossoneri could move for another replacement, rather than Milinkovic-Savic.

In other words, you could say that the goalkeeper’s move to San Siro is on standby for now, pending further developments. The big news, of course, is that no other clubs will be able to get to the Torino man for now.

  1. Savić, Modrić, Xhaka we’re being balkanized. Might as well sign up for Serbian League. Afterall the quality of our team fits, we’ve barely won against Crvena Zvezda.

    1. Maybe we finally get some hungry players that want to win and don’t give up mid game? Milan finished 8th if you don’t remember.

      1. We have hungry players – Musah, RLC, Bondo, Chuk, Pavlo, Emerson, Okafor. And by the look of it, they’ll be spearheading our campaign next season🤣

  2. Ever since the rumours of Mike heading out appeared Ive been hoping VM-S name would appear as a serious alternative. Quality keeper.

    1. Yes he’s been a class keeper against us. Good penalty stopper. Would be best first option. Knows the league well and is a beast

  3. Unless they’re also negotiating with Donnarumma what’s the point of being on standby with Savic? He’s easily the best of the names flying around…

    1. Gigio isn’t coming back to Milan. And if he is intelligent, he’d stay away from Inter too, otherwise it wouldn’t be safe for him in the city of Milano …

    2. Dollaumma, is the true definition of mercenary, by the look of it he’s about to pull a Milan at PSG because of their strict salary policy. Bro has no loyalty

  4. With what is happening so far in the market, most importantly the players we are aiming for, this upcoming season may be even worse than last season. Fans should boycott, until Gerry sells. We are Milan, NOT Partizan Beograd.

    1. He’s not going to sell unless someone makes a huge offer so stop complaining. They know they screwed up, they are trying to make things right.

      1. Apparently they don’t know that they screwed up, since they are still looking for some average at best players. For longtime fans this is unacceptable, fot baseball fans like yourself you can just get along with it.

    2. You seem to have some mental impairment, is that why you have such stupid statements? Whi cares where the player is from? Milan needs top players and you’d put a fascist committee to select players. 🤣🤣🤣 Don’t write “we”, you’re a loser.

    3. He’s a good goalkeeper. Who in the market is as good and have a salary attainable to us? He plays his heart out every time against AC Milan

  5. I think sportiello is more than capable of been our first choice keeper. What has happened to plizzari? If we have managed him we’ll, he should be our second choice by now and gradually our first the next few years. When u build a solid midfield n defence, even an average keeper turns out good. I feel sportiello is good enough. That’s why Modric is needed in this team which. Our midfield should be as solid as possible. Just my opinion though.

    1. VMS is better than sportiello, posted some great numbers last season (far better than maignan). I really like sportiello and think he would have been better than mike last season…too bad his hand got slashed early on

  6. VMS is no joke, i dont know why people keep underestimate him. he’s no Kalac that poised the identical posture but useless

  7. If he can be the same GK all season he was against us last season, we’ll definitely fight for the scudetto. Even without Leao & Pulisic. 🙂
