Moretto: Milan to miss out as Monchengladbach star nears Roma move – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

It seems that AC Milan will miss out on the signing of Manu Kone, as AS Roma are closing in on an agreement with Borussia Monchengladbach as per a report.

Going into deadline day, Di Marzio let it be known that the Milan mercato ‘is not over yet’ and even on this the last day the mangement remain at work trying to strengthen the squad, especially in midfield.

There is still the possibility of a loan departure of Ismael Bennacer, which would open the possibility of a new reinforcement. Manu Kone was named as the main target, a player that has been admired for years since his Toulouse days.

However, Matteo Moretto of Roma has suggested that the deal looks unlikely to happen because Roma have swooped in. Koné already has a flight booked to Rome and is ‘very close’ to joining them, with the Giallorossi negotiating with Borussia to find a definitive agreement.

At the moment, Milan are ‘unable to make any concrete move for him’ because they need to offload players first. While Atletico Madrid have come in for Bennacer, there doesn’t seem to be the time required and thus Adrien Rabiot seems to be the priority target.

      1. Not true.
Roma is signing Kone with the money (25m) they were going to use to buy Kevin Danso, but he failed his medical.
Abraham is on dry loan at Milan

    1. You’ve never seen Kone play, stop pretending he’s Desailly or Rijkaard. He’s tall and athletic and that’s all he has. He’s injury prone and gets a lot of bookings.

  1. Here come the Redbird Lovers bashing Konè LOLOLOLO

Same old pattern: when we lose out on a player because we wait to save money or haggle – they then rush to Gerry’s defense and say “well that player is trash anyways and we don’t need him” hahahahaha

So predictable. Konè would have been a solid addition to the mid (upgrade over Musah that is for sure) considering we sent Benny to the bench AGIAN for tomorrow game and are actively trying to sell him. And if we don’t sell him now we certainly will in January or by next summer. Either way he is out of the team it would seem. Also seems we NEED to switch to a 4-3-3 with our group of mids – perfect for Konè.

So we should have signed Konè knowing we will be losing Benny in a short time and need a replacement. But apparently we need to sell to buy??? Even tho we are profitable???? I wonder when the day will come when all that profit will become useful to us LOL. I know I know – when the stadium is finally built in 2067! Wooohooo!!!

Oh ya I forgot that pesky NET transfer spend we cannot go over and need to balance. Need to shave about 10M or so off that to get us to approx 35M NET. So Konè and another potential player we would be looking at is off the table this year – unless they are FREE. Gotta keep that profit margin intact.

Without Benny or Konè our mid is: Fofana Reindjers Musah RLC and…….??????? That’s it? Yikes!

But what am I saying??? Konè trash anyways cause we missed out on him 🤡🤡🤡

  2. Awful mercato on paper.

    Missed Zirkzee and Kone.

Sold Pobega (good) and Adli(probably good) but no replacement.
Our midfield is: Reijnders, Fofana, RLC and Musah. Bennacer if he stays( some leagues’ window is open) otherwise nothing.

0 Italians- even rotational- when we could have gone after Buongiorno,Ricci, Bove, Chiesa, Casadei, Salvatore Esposito.
Why didn’t we keep Brescianni? A need, homegrown and former Primavera Captain.
This has meant someone like Jovic is missing UCL.

Speaking of, why did we extend Jovic and give him 9 just to try to force him out?

We made less than 10M(this doesn’t include CDK).
We still have Origi and FBT on the books.

So many “IFs” foe this window.

1 positive point for Fofana, Pavlovic and Morata and TBC for Abraham.

    So yeah, 3/10.
