Going into deadline day, Di Marzio let it be known that the Milan mercato ‘is not over yet’ and even on this the last day the mangement remain at work trying to strengthen the squad, especially in midfield.
There is still the possibility of a loan departure of Ismael Bennacer, which would open the possibility of a new reinforcement. Manu Kone was named as the main target, a player that has been admired for years since his Toulouse days.
However, Matteo Moretto of Roma has suggested that the deal looks unlikely to happen because Roma have swooped in. Koné already has a flight booked to Rome and is ‘very close’ to joining them, with the Giallorossi negotiating with Borussia to find a definitive agreement.
At the moment, Milan are ‘unable to make any concrete move for him’ because they need to offload players first. While Atletico Madrid have come in for Bennacer, there doesn’t seem to be the time required and thus Adrien Rabiot seems to be the priority target.
